Makes me sad there are so little of these mechanical arcade pieces left. I can't imagine what we could create today with intergrated electronics and how cool some new ideas would be

I remember playing the bad bart gunslinger game at Coney island and east 14 street in New York. In the mid 70's.

I believe this is the same game that was at Knotts Berry Farm for years. Played it so many times. Great vid. Cheers

He calls you a smartass! Whata great game. Even though it uses real invention to make it happen, it oddly seems more 70s than 1983. Beautiful creativity by the makers. Quite intimidating!

They did say there was a 1960s and early 70s non scoring version, which I actually played in Mablethorpe, a small British seaside town, in around 1975. If you hit the eyes lit up, that was about it.

That's an incredible piece. I only saw one of those when they were new.

I remember this. There was an even older one I remember playing in the 70s

I came looking for the film version where the booth showed a clip and there was a twinkle in the bad guys eye. That was the cue to draw and shoot.

I can’t believe that this arcade game actually utilizes an animatronic they can interact with using a gun

Thanks Clay. Now you are ready for Cactus Canyon. I would guess that when the game was originally built it came with a small compressor, which probably burnt up in sort order. Hilarious that it was made in England, home of the Western gunfights on the Salisbury Plain.

Saw this at Tweetsie Railroad. They person who played ended up getting the *cheat* light on each time. The pistol was never placed inside the holster.

I found this video searching for the one I saw at the Starcade at Tomorrow Land in 1993. It probably was this one, but I remember the character looking like a humanoid alien with green skin.

You are supposed to start with your pistol inside the holster. You are not supposed to point it until the robot says the word "draw." There is a magnet or some other type of sensor inside the pistol and holster that lets it know whether or not you have it inside. I once saw somebody use this machine and he just kept it pointed directly at the torso of the robot. That caused the cheat light to light up.
