Wow. Memories. I was 6 years old, and always too scared to play this myself, but it fascinated me all the same.

I remember playing this at Dorney Park Allentown, Pa in the mid 80s. My parent would get so upset, they played to get into the park and all I wanted to do was hang out in the arcade the whole time. Game freaked me out, I thought the voice was real and was like the arcade attendant hiding somewhere watching me play using a microphone or something! I am almost certain that the cowboy was dressed in all black on the version I played. Ill never forget that stiff armed draw!

I remember marshalls arcade , clacton, uk having one of these. People were drawn to the machine and it generated a lovely group spirit among strangers.

I remember playing this at OpryLand as a kid back in the early 80's. I remember sometimes if you missed, he said, "Where the hell did that one go?"

it had to be in the 70's when i played a similar version, pretty sure it was in some restaurant type place in the west when we went on vacation. i can see it scaring other kids my age, but i was always fascinated by them.

I remember the American Adventure theme park having one of these in the 1980s. I also remember it being replaced by a newer version that I think was all solid-state rather than using a cassette tape for the speech. Anyone know what that was called?

This was fantastic. Clever how they accomplished everything. Lots of stuff on that could be upgraded to less mechanical/wear parts now. I think at a minimum I would remote the compressor and extend the connections to reduce the noise.

What was the name of that arcade game in the late 70's where you stood in front of a full height projection screen and (like this game) had a shootout with cowboys? The difference being that you were actually watching a film but interacting with it.

How does it know when the cowboy has "shot" at you? Does it rely on the cylinder's airflow being a fixed value?
