I know that people say the a320ceo is cooler and I kinda agree but this is so cool - the leap has a bit of a buzzsaw too, and it's harmonic. However the fuel introduction on startup is just amazing. I love it very much. Hope to fly on one soon!

I agree with everything you said here! Sure the CEO is quite cool with it loud and mighty buzzsaw however this is also a nice change - At least it makes a satisfying sound. My favourite part about the A320NEO/737 MAX series is the engine start up, the fuel mix is a 10/10 for me. Thank you for watching!

You’d think the Leap-1a wouldn’t have the iconic buzzsaw because it’s meant to be quiet and fuel efficient. It’s actually the louder engine of the A320Neos series compared to the pw1000g! Note the GE90-style spool up sound, which makes total sense giving the Leap is co designed by GE.

It depends on where you fly and with what airline! I flew with BA in 2019 on-board their A321neo - No buzzsaw at all! The spool up is very similar to the GE90, you could even call the CFM LEAP a mini-GE90! The CFM LEAP is the louder engine, however that's why I like it. I like to see that aircraft still have some "soul" in them. Thank you for watching!

The thing is on PW1000G, there is a planetary gearbox placed between the low pressure shaft and the fan. Because of this, the fadec can easily shift the gear to prevent the fan tip from going supersonic and making buzz noise while allowing the turbine run at much higher rpm. That's why you probably would never hear the buzz when flying with PWGTF.

​@ntxsirenvators8983 correct, there are a few videos floating around on KZbin of PW 32xNeos with some buzz. Albeit, it's much more subtle but still somewhat enjoyable

@@BLACKzj52 Also correct - the PW1000G only really buzzes at TO/GA, and even then only when it takes off in humid climates. Back where I live in Australia , Jetstar uses Leap-engined A321neos and in our humid spring/summer, it can start buzzing like hell even when it’s at 80-90% - and most of the airports it flies to don’t have particularly short runways either. In short, with those humid circumstances, Jetstar’s Neos will buzz pretty much every takeoff even if it isn’t at TO/GA.

Why does A321neo sound kind of different from the 737 max with the same engine? A321 neo has nicer buzzsaw sound but I still can't get used to the high pitched 'fire alarm' sound on either.

I'd assume because even though it's the same engine - it also kind of isn't. The Boeing 737 MAX engine is smaller and I assume the way fuel gets delivered a little differently hence different sounds. The high pitched whine isn't much better than the roar from the CEO I do agree, however from outside they are quieter. Thank you for watching!

PW GTF's are much quieter .. but .. I wouldnt want to fly across the Atlantic with them bolted onto an A321 LR ..

The reliability issues are apparently fixed now from what I heard 😉. But that gearbox in them seems a little dodgy to me.
