I couldn’t agree more on the masters being shown. As a paramedic I run calls on people in the 40-70 age group with massive health problems that being more active would help tremendously. Getting that in front of those people and showing hey you can still do this even as older people.

Just a comment with regards to your Jack Farlow assessment, after praising Luke Parker for his overall outstanding performance and finish. As a panel discredited Farlow for his “one off event win”, when he in fact finished ahead of Luke Parker and had multiple great performances and displayed incredible fitness. I’m just a biased Canadian but I have to stand up for ours :)

Great recap, completely agree a very well rounded test. I think on of the best comments was Jack Farlow responding to a question if he thought his total would stand up “Those guys are way to fit to lift that heavy”. So he acknowledged his fitness wasn’t as good as the others. Keep delivering these quality shows.

Thank you for saying: 1. Pistols don’t need to be in masters, especially over 50 (imo too). 2. Masters don’t bring in the views so they don’t get coverage. Most young people don’t want to watch the masters unless they’re watching a parent or family member. 3. That all masters don’t necessarily have disposable income. I wish we did, but the truth is, most of us retirees, have a certain amount to live on and if we live past the point that that income runs out, we could be in bad shape. SS alone won’t cut it. I would have liked to have seen the 60-64 and 65+ because I knew a couple of the women competing and you always compare yourself a bit to what they can do, and I’m also in that 60-64 group and almost at the 65+. Maybe they should have charged something like $2.99 a day for streaming age groups and adaptive or something like $7.99 for the 3 days. They actually did that at Masters Weightlifting Nationals and Masters Pan Ams this year and it generated some money and you got a front row view. My daughter and team mates that didn’t go, got to watch us from home, work or the gym. I really enjoyed watching the individuals and got ESPN+ to see all the heats. Pretty exciting. Got to go cancel my subscription now 😊.

Per Castro's WIR, Roman had the choice of what flag to carry to the podium. He chose the Mayhem flag.
@stang93ful

Castro said he gave Roman the option to wear whatever flag he wanted to and Roman chose MAYHEM! And that was AWESOME!! ❤️💪🔥👊🙏🏻 Hurts my heart a little bit to know that Baylee thinks she embarrassed the Mayhem name. I’m glad Rich told her that’s ridiculous because she’s amazing and did incredible. ANYONE who makes the games is an absolute BEAST! I don’t care in you’re 40th place. You’re still in the 1% of top pro CrossFit athletes.

CrossFit should not be a crying event. But I keep on crying at CF events. Heartbroken for Roman, but so glad he still got to the podium. Great entertainment all around. Mayhem athletes did great. Should all be proud. I think the athletes forget just how hard it is to do what they do. We appreciate how hard it is!! Thanks for the podcast and thoughts.

Guys - 2022 CrossFit Games Masters Day 1 on KZbin has 683,000 views. Not everyone can watch it live, but people obviously watch it. In terms of who has $$ to spend on sponsors' products - just look at the census because the three highest income brackets are for individuals between the ages of 35 - 65. Yes, the Masters competition will NEVER meet the viewership or attendance numbers that the individuals do but it doesn't need to in order to make money. People just need to see the Masters competition for what it is and structure it to make $$$ from that reality and STOP saying that because it isn't the Individuals then it just needs to go away. Geez this gets frustrating.
