I lived in a trailer park inside a fairgrounds. Ricky was scheduled to sing that night at the fair. My mother was staying with me and when his bus pulled in, he waved at her as she sat on the porch. She was so thrilled because he was her favorite. That night as he was performing, my brother called mom. He asked her to turn down the radio so they could talk. She laughed and said "I can't do that because Ricky Skaggs is singing right outside my window". My mom is gone now but I will never forget the joy on her face. He sang for hours and the people loved him. So do I! God Bless him and his family.

We waited about an hour for the concert to start and he had gospel music on loud speakers while we waited. I told my friends that he was a serious believer and before the night was over he took a bluegrass concert with many unbelievers and turned it into a gospel message. We felt like we had been to church.
