That was "elevator" music you hear at a doctors office.

I miss those early CFTO bumpers and Duvals voice. Hit play on this by accident and it was like the sermon was speaking right to me. God save the Queen at the end too. Wow. Miss these days.

Wow. A Toronto TV station actually allowing a Christian protestant minister to speak on-air, and then 'God Save the Queen' as the last broadcast of the day. 'robatsea' must have dug-deep for this jewel of ancient history.
@frankdenardo8684 Жыл бұрын
There were TV stations in the United States that did that. Every night was a minister from a Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Espicopal church quoting scriptures.

I wish there still was an official "sign off," rather than playing crap all night long.

Unfortunately that wont be happening cause it's paid programming

@@IanGorton When a TV station shuts down for the night. It is usually to perform maintenance to equipment. The equipment is very expensive to operate.

It's really hard to believe they would play God Save the Queen in 1980! I sang it in school in the early '60s, but by 1967 it had been completely replaced by O Canada.
@CelesteKTheNewWaveRevue7 жыл бұрын
Not at that tme it wasn't. Canada is still a part of the Queen's republic so they played it similtaneously at the end of each broadcast day with O'Canada.

I remember singing it in school in the late 70's early 80's. The two were still viable even then.

1980 was the year O Canada was officially adopted as Canada's National Anthem. God Save the Queen is the Dominion's Royal Anthem.
@9KariKiri611 жыл бұрын
they play it not as the anthem of GB, but as the queen's anthem

Love that cover of Killing Me Softly. Poor HRH looks so awkward posing with the horse.

I wonder if CFTO used "With Glowing Hearts (1979)" in its sign off sequence in 1980 to circa 1984.

They had colour TV in 1980 ???
@OofusTwillip7 жыл бұрын
Test-broadcasts in colour began in Canada in 1966. We'd been getting colour broadcasts from the USA by antenna, for several years before then. Just as in the USA, shows in colour were in the minority, and were usually heralded by a special bumper. By 1976, colour was the broadcast standard in Canada, though many people still only had B&W sets.

"Saint" Paul was not Jesus' choice to create the Christian Church. He was more of a Sociopath than Christian.
