People are missing the point. Don't regrade. The Nostalgia of the old slabs will be worth a lot more than regrading anything. Obviously CGC Perfects will rise in value. Whenever something changes so drastically, eventually the old ways become nostalgic. Hence Legendary Collection, and soon to be rainbow cards.

Just not a fan of these changes - don’t care about the label. - No more subgrades (“so few people used them recently” yeah because it was $15/card) - 9.5s turning into 10s overnight (if it’s not a 10, it’s not a 10) - The “grail” of a Perfect 10 = eliminated (imagine BGS getting rid of black label) - Overall weaker grading standard for anything graded a 10 going forward (when CGC was previously known for being strict)

I'm not sure what's going on with CGC. I ordered their sleeves with the extra long tab on the top (for Card Saver 1s) and they didn't send me any. I called 4 times, and finally asked for a refund after over 3 months of being told the order would be filled shortly. They had no explanation for their lack of sleeves, and didn't try to talk me out of the refund. Really strange.

I like the idea of ai to grade it makes more sense than wage slaves but think their slab are kinda ugly. If they got to the size of CGC fixed their issues and didn’t make their labels look like 90’s filing cabinet headings I would give them a chance

Don't send your cards for grading... it's such a predatory industry and you'll fall into the trap and it'll become just as important or even MORE important than the card itself. People care more about the number and the plastic shell vs the actual card... I've been in this hobby longer than my dads sperm was brewing inside of him, and I still loathe the day I first heard of grading companies. It's become an absolute plague of a cornerstone in this hobby.... one day I hope someone has the cure for this cancer.

Besides the valuable cards everything else just gets double sleeve and standard non-ring binder. I enjoy looking at binders and going trough pages with the cards i love. It just isn’t the same with those big plastic things, that you have to store away in a box or somewhere. Im talking purely from a collector perspective not planing to sell my stuff.

I love CGC but I do agree that the changes arent the smartest at all. But I will say, I will not send any cards to PSA. I would only send Pokemon Packs or Hanfuda cards. The reason I won't send to PSA is mostly because I've seen a few KZbinrs and fellow collectors on a few Facebook pages, send a few cards, and get low graded cards and the cards look very minty. Then they open the slabs and send them again to get a higher grade. PSA have been falling short as well and if this continues, I feel like people will start going to other grading companies like AGS or others.

All CGC had to do was change Perfect to the new black label design and they would be giving BGS a run for their BL money AND leave PSA as the only one of the big three without subgrades and a black label tier. I don't think it's desperation as much as it is listening to their client base. People have been asking for a better label and bashing their subgrades for years. Being more like PSA is a smart business move, and the time to incorporate sports grading is also a good time to make the label change. This is what separates them from Beckett, who just don't care. I don't think the 5% who care about subgrades are a business concern to a company like CGC. People always whine about large companies' decisions to change initially. 6 months from now this will be the new standard and everyone will forget why they were upset. So essentially, people should, and will, get over it.

Big mistake in my opinion. They cut everything that made them unique. Subgrades were a nice option, specially for higher end/value cards. Perfect 10 was a great separation and distinction from the other 10s, comparable to BGS's black label. The grading scale change is a huge slap in the face for the existing 10 population, and to all the 9.5s already out there. Lastly the new labels are hideous and look like BGS knockoffs. CGC was doing fine as they were, from my view they were gaining popularity and the slabs were increasing in value. All of this progress just hit a screeching halt, CGC is going to lose 3-4 years of progress with these changes.

People are just going to go AI grading anyways. MANA, AGS.. why get someone's opinion and no transparency if you are getting a "good 10 or a bad 10." Go AI and you can see exactly what caused a card to receive the grade it did. Consistency is the most important thing in grading. Only robots are unbiased and consistent. Humans are not.

this is kinda wrong. value increment is the most important thing in grading. the reason psa is popular is because their 10s are easy asf and holds decent value. simple as that. nobody is happy getting 9.5 at BGS for their pack fresh cards even though it was supposed to be 10 in psa. they lost a lot of value from that. If a grading company playing hard-ass in giving their customers more 10s, they’ll never be popular.

@@Bouncing_Pig I do agree to an extent... but I think AI values will take off with perfect scores and the proof to back up those scores. I don't buy PSA because a PSA 10 doesn't really tell you a whole lot. I grade and sell PSA cards while people still buy them.. but if I buy something, I'm buying a more strict grading company so that I know the card I'm buying is actually gem mint or even perfect. PSA 10 has become a cliche.. it can still have 75/25 centering on the back, which is very unattractive. So, ye.. if you are selling your cards, grade PSA and flip them quick. But long term, people will start buying the stricter companies at a higher premium. Nobody wants a 9.5... but there is also a reason why a black label goes for 10X what a PSA 10 does. Plus, can always cross-grade 9.5's into 10's if the card is valuable enough to justify that. I won't buy PSA, but I use PSA because other people buy PSA. Only PSA what you want to sell. Lots of suckers out there thinking PSA 10 actually means something.
