I can't pinpoint why I LOVE this video. Each vignette of images seems to stand on its own, making an independent visual statement--the woman rapt in front of the tape player, the series of shell shapes, the crater without and with water, the child (?) in seashell headdress turning to gold. And yet somehow you managed to bring it all together in the end, despite the disconnectedness of the parts. Amazing. Beautiful imagery; exquisite mini-sequences (loved the clusters of barnacles). The sense of circling around an absent idea kept it all flowing. Bravo. I would love to find out if there were a story behind it all. A woman reflecting on her past? The reunion of a separated mother and child? Even without this, it is beautiful as an abstract montage.

Was... this ENTIRE thing... CGI? The human in the beginning looks so real, but there are times when the skin looks too smooth and porcelain to be a real person. And then most of the shells... There are times when it was too smooth to be real shells, but other times, like the pearls? They looked REAL.....

+Noble Magnum If you look at the actual film/production companies website, it was more of a test of their technological capabilities. They tried lots of new technologies and things in terms of animation/simulation/planning. Personally, I think that this is an incredible work of art, even though it's a showreel.

The detail is astounding, if there is any video to exemplify how extremely difficult it is to differentiate true life from CGI it is this video. Reminds me in parts of what Bryce 3D taken to the umpteenth level should look like esp. when viewing the mountains, fossils molluscs and bivalves, and what great affects for a movie such as Avatar 2. The realistic clarity and reflective detail of the analogue tape panel is gorgeous.
