Paul Shaffer's band used to play this song as bumper music for David Letterman, heard them do it a few times. So I assume he's been a fan or at least appreciative of the song.

According to an article that I found... Back in the early 1990s, Shaffer reportedly went to a KING'S X show and asked the members of the band on their bus afterward what kind of sampling tech they were using for their vocal harmonies. After they told him "none", Shaffer walked away impressed and taught his band to play "We Were Born To Be Loved". According to the One Week // One Band web site, the song's "fake-out funk-metal coda proved ideal for the Letterman show's commercial bumpers and its regular use provided the band with semiannual royalty checks for years."

@@crazeyjoe thanks for the backstory. I assumed as such. I watched Letterman with some frequency at different times in my life and just could recall hearing it more than once and being amused....nice to know the story behind that.

where is Paul? all I see is a woman in the back playing guitar. then a bald guy with a keyboard and the the 2 kings x members up front. The drummer does not sound like the kings x drummer.

This is the second video I've seen posted saying they were recorded at the Gramercy on July 29, but I saw them last night - July 29 - at the Sellersville Theater in PA. Was this an afternoon show or something?

King's Letterman,.......Shaffer and Collins look lost like they showed up at the wrong gig. And there is NO keyboard on this song.
