Now I understand why Alisa is seen as the Canon love of Rean...although Sara is my top pick for him, Alisa so far was the only one willing to let go of her feelings.

Cold-steel 1-4 spoilers This relationship is established early on in the first cold steel. Rean and Alisa are the first two members of Class VII to meet. Theres the scene early on in the first dungeon of the game where the class falls on the floor and Rean grabs Alisa to protect her from the fall leading to them falling on the floor together which then leads to Alisa slapping Rean across the face. In the early game Rean struggles trying to find time to talk with Alisa to sort things out. They work things out and become friends proper in chapter 1. In cold steel 2 I chose Alisa's final bonding event which has Rean confess how he feels towards Alisa admitting he couldn't get the "Hands" indecent out of his head. They hug and embrace. The next game seems to imply the final bonding event here is the canon one as main and optional events showed they worked through a long distance relationship and took a break on and off a few times during the time gap between CS 2 and 3. I'm not sure if CS3 read my save file for CS2 and detected the Alisa final Bonding event. As far as I have researched it doesn't appear to do anything more with the save files on PS4 other than give you quartz and an early game piece of equipment. Seeing as COLD steel 1 and 2 were ported to PS4 and Cold steel 3 was on PS4 from the get go I have to assume there arent alternate scenes from any of the other girls if you did one of their CS2 final bonding events instead. But speaking of Bonding events remember when I said Alisa and Rean were the first Class VII members to meet. Well its true but heres the kicker one of Alisa's bonding events (one which gives you one of her character notes no less) reveals she and Rean met when they were kids in Rean's home town of Ymir. Alisa was lost and crying until a boy helped her find her family...yep that was Rean. Again CS3 shows these two have put their best efforts to keep the relationship going while life and real world events get in their way. Cold Steel 4 adds in alot of complications for Alisa regarding her family and Sharon. I personally think the Romance system is stupid and they should have just made her Bonding events part of the mandatory story. Alisa giving up her relationship to deal with her personal issues only for Rean to take the initiative to solidify the relationship for good ithe night before the final battle should be the one experience every player sees. Rean getting with his former teacher or his current students is not only gross but absolutely not something Rean would do. Elise is his sister and don't tell me Estelle and Joshua cause you KNOW thats a huge difference. Those two never saw each other as siblings but in contrast regardless of Elise's feelings Rean sees Elise as his Sister. Alfin is arguably worse. so again SPOILERS..... Giliath Osborn is the reincarnation of Emperor Dreichels. Rean is Osborn's son. Alfin and her family are desendents of Dreichels.....so yeah the romance option is wrong on so many levels. As for old class seven/Main campus thors Laura and Fie just don't have any signs of romantic interest in Rean really until the bonding events of Cold steel 4 (Although I think Laura is a romantic option in 3 with Alisa and Emma). Emma doesn't have anything really either outside of these events but at least you could see the relationship making sense. She seems like someone a person like Rean would go for the same could be said about Towa whom technically Rean has spent more time with then any of the other main characters from Thor's main campus as both he and Towa were instructors at the branch campus. So at least Emma and Towa are reasonable alternatives. But yeah to conclude Rean and Alisa's relationship was clearly set up from the beginning of Cold Steel 1 and slowly developed across the four games. The alternatives clearly only exist for the sake of having more trophies. Story wise its gonna make things needlessly complicated for falcom. Eventually they will have no choice but to invalidate the other choices other than Alisa and treat her as the canon choice cause otherwise they need to have a character in future Arks going forward ask the question "And who did the Ashen Chevalier end up with again?" followed by a list of selectable options like "the daughter of the Reinford company", "that girl from the hexen clan" etc.... you see how stupid and needlessly convoluted that would be. I think the Romance system is the stupidest idea Falcom implemented into trails and I hope they leave it behind. what might work in Persona 5 does not work in a series like trails where there are clear well developed connections between characters that each have an effect on the wider world going forward. Or what do you expect Rean to come back down the line by himself and not talk in-depth on how his relationships goin.....(Realizes thats exactly the kind of thing Rean wouldn't want to do)

Pretty much each video of "all bonding events *insert a girl name*" other than Elise's, have a bunch of comments like "the best girl, the best couple" and sometimes "much better than Alisa". And the funniest thing is - the most watched bonding event video isn't even Alisa's, but Laura's, who seems to be the number one favorite among the western audience (lol, feminists did their job well if western men became into manly women in just a couple of generations). If you look at the hints, you'll see that in CS 1 it was kind of implied that Alisa can actually be C and she has a much better motivation to be one than Crow. If I have to guess, initially the writer planned for her to be C and to be "saved" in CS2 instead of this male side character, but something went wrong in the development unfortuntatelly. If she WAS revealed as C then she would work as the only canon romance very well, and Cold Stell would've been a much better series probably, but that wasn't what happened. As things are, she ended up as just one of the side characters, especially in CS 3-4, her impact on the story wasn't big enough to consider her as the main girl and only possible romance option.

@@greenlitlleman Actually, the trophies on Steam show that for both the Asian and the western releases of CS4, Alisa is the number one pick. In Asia, it's like 45%, western release is like 35%. Laura comes in 2nd after Alisa in the west, whereas Emma is 2nd in Asia. The people that don't ship Alisa with Rean are more vocal.

I think these look really cute together, and I think that their relationship always had more chemistry than the others. I also love how realistic it seem with Alisa want to end things so she can find herself and sort out her family drama, and Rean, while willing to give her the space she needs, is supporting her and showing her that he's not going anywhere, even with all the other girls pursuing him. And Considering Rean's already a chick magnet, Alisa develops eyes of a hawk to make sure there are no hussies trying to get with her son just because of his status.

Alisa's CS II bonding event reveals that the silent treatment happened because Alisa didn't know how to behave to someone she madly fell in love with. Rean was all she was thinking about then. Alisa just a girl who had a Tsundere phase instead of actually being a real tsundere. Not like *cough* duvalie and Celine

Despite all the stuff that happened in CS games, this couple right here is the most fluid, emotional and well written in the game. You can argue if this was the best choice from devs, but the fact is that Alisa loves Rean so much. Alisa's bounding events really seem more realistic than others'. I can see a couple struggling their feeling like they do during CS games. "I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused you, when all that you've done is your best" - Man, this dialog always strikes me hard, very hard. Many people today are too proud to recognize the importance of a person to them. This kind of dialog is what couples say to themselves. This is real and human all right. Alisa grown so much in 3 and 4 that she became the main female in CS series. Looking forward to her future with Rean. Come on Falcom 🤷‍♂️🥰

IMO the amount of Alisa haters would've been lessen if there was no choice for a romantic interest and just made her the only choice. I mean if she was Falcom's choice all along, why not stick their guns on it? It can be logical to say that Rean and Alisa had chemistry since those scenes are mandatory for us to see in the main storyline throughout the series. At the same time I can understand the gripes of the haters as well. I think she's mostly hated because they gave you an illusion of having a choice where in fact, she is pushed to be the main interest rendering your choice meaningless. You can easily swap the romantic story scenes minus that specific scene in cs1 like the stargazing scene in nord or the one where she hugs rean in the bathroom in cs4 with any girl and nothing changes

Why not make those scenes with your choice of LI instead of a character that they favor? Or why can't those scenes be just on the bonding scenes or optional scenes instead so that it doesn't affect the main storyline? In a way, it comes as sort of false advertising of having a choice and also really hinders the writing and development of most of the LI's since they have to be part of the harem.

I've seen lots of ads for the games and there is none where it says "hey come play this harem game", simply because it is just not considered a big part of the story What I meant to say earlier is that while they had a seemingly harmless idea, it's obvious that they didn't handled it very well. I would have loved to see an epic romance story between alisa and rean, but sadly they just considered something secondary. It's like if i play fire emblem or persona, you build the bond/social link you have with an LI only for the main story to have a pre determined LI picked or pushed for you even if you didn't spend anytime with that character (yukari from p3 also got the same heat cuz of that). Like i've said it kind of breaks immersion and renders your choice meaningless. If that is the case, why not just ditch the dating sim aspect and focus on their relationship more to be a bit more plot relevant?

It honestly doesnt bug me that much, aside from the fact they went way overboard with it (including Sara and the students), but I can overlook it. That said, I do hope they ditch this kind of mechanic in Kuro no Kiseki in favor of a tradicional romance, maybe one with the blonde girl from the promo material

As someone whose knowledge in Trails is, for the most part. Limited to the Sky arc... Its such a pain in the ass to hear about all of the Harem nonsense going on in Cold Steel, as not only are all of these scenes incredibly sweet. But also Rean and Alisa give me these wonderful vibes similar to Ikki and Stella from Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry/Chivalry Of A Failed Knight. And its so freaking lame that Alisa isn't the set-in-stone love interest, rather than trying to follow the path of Estelle and Joshua's relationship.

To be fair Alisa have the most chemistry as a couple with Rean, it's either Alisa, Alfin, Towa, or Emma narrative wise. Alisa for Nord moment and all Black Albereich shenanigans, Alfin with Pentagruel escape scene, Towa with the breakdown moment, and Emma with the witch-awakener relation. I know that Laura is the most famous Rean ship in western community, but narrative ways her romance (and Fie) felt so out of place in the Cold Steel 4. Both of them are great characters but, don't have personal arc with Rean. As far as I've seen in the community, Alisa is victim of confirmation bias in the community where everyone should agree to hate on her and call her worst girl (also because of Falcom decision to make Cold Steel arc a dating simulator harem game). Everyone in the Class VII are really well written in their own way along the tetralogy but some of them get more hate than the others. Whatever, I'm sticking with Alisa anyway.

That's how it is in the Japanese release. The added voice stuff was put in for the first 2 games PS4 re-release by XSeed. I hope they eventually add Rean spoken dialogue as well to 3 and 4.

In the Japanese one she said “I love you, I’ve been watching you since back then.” And her shaking her head after turning around was new too. Idk why they changed it so much.

find it truly sad that alisa and emma's choice carry over from cs3 but laura nope doesn't exist no reference ever. I only picked alisa here on my file because i read the other 2 had very minor if any chances in dialogue. Emma you get a small chance on the last bonding event, laura yep didn't happen or even exist in this game so it's invalid choice which makes me angry.

I love there relationship even though it seems like the canon choice. Especially in this game when they break up so she can focus on the situation with her family not some stupid excuse like oh I found someone else stick. But I really love that he was there for her to help her through it.

@@GiordanDiodato Actually it does in fact affect the final bonding event. There's a slight dialogue difference between a non-romanced Alisa CS3 save and a romanced one transferred into CS4. In the former, she says something about being wishy washy about her feelings and is sorry about that, whereas in the romanced one, shown above, she instead apologizes for breaking up with Rean.

I think they didn't do that because they want the player to self-insert more easily with their own voice/thoughts in the moment. It is a RPG game after all.

Apparently what happened was that the Japanese VA for Rean had become incredibly expensive, so Rean's voiced lines were toned down, and the localized version kept the amount of lines the same for English Rean instead of having more voiced. Which is odd, since I remember the PC/PS4 version of CS2 having additional voiced lines added.

I didn't like Alisa in CS1-3 because I found her annoying and it was frustrating how much she was pushed on you (I’m a Laura and Towa girl, myself) but I actually quite enjoyed her character in CS4. I like how she was willing to forget about her feelings for Rean because she felt responsible for his suffering, whereas the other girls are like, “Love me too?”. That being said, I still went for Towa because ReanXTowa is my preferred pair, but I have to admit that Alisa and Rean have a lot of depth and I understand the appeal.

I felt the same way, except for Towa, I also went for Emma. Towa felt way too passive IMO, honestly. The only times she's ever involved is if Crow, Angelica and George come in to the picture. Other than that, she wasn't all that interesting to me, but she's not terrible. Just average. Unlike Elise, whom I LOATHE with a burning passion.

Rean being the one to pursue Alisa is what makes her events the best in my opinion. Alisa says so in her first bond event that she didn’t feel like she deserves Rean when some of the blame of his suffering was on her own father, also this adds depth to the relationship, with all the other girls Rean is just “......” during their love confessions

She cares about the Reinford a lot and what they do, so takes it personally when they do something wrong even if she herself had no involvement in it. This is something that's pretty common among people in real life. The fact that people she cared about, Rean especially, got hurt because of them would be an incredible blow to Alisa's self-esteem.

She concealed her last name from everyone because of negative reaction from the nobility to a wealthy commoner family which made the fortune from selling weapons. In Nord she talked about how as a Reinford she felt the weight of responsibility for the Railway Cannons pointed at Crossbell, even though she had nothing to do with them. That's likely because she saw her grandfather feeling the weight and responsibility for approving their construction, and he left the company after Irina made the final deal to turn them over to the Imperial Army. She's always taken on the weight of things that were not necessarily hers to bear because she cares so much about people. It might not make sense to an outsider, but a lot of what people do doesn't make sense.

Kind of sad that alisa's development as a character was basically stopped (and somewhat rean's too) in order to let people have harem bs. You lose emotional impact for some scenes, character growth (look at estelle and joshua) and create trouble in the community by not taking a stance. Alisa's growing role in reinford is well done but everything tied to rean and her father is underwhelming because of too much time invested elsewhere. (All cs4 act 2 is useless) I love Cs just upset it could have easily been handled better

Alisa is the second cutest girl in the games IMO. Second only to Juna who I think is really gorgeous even if my heart at the end went 100% to Musse. I haven't chosen her here just because she "friendzoned" Rean in the first heart bond event and I went: "Have you left me? well, no problem. I've a ton of other girls to choose from". But that don't changes the fact that she's beautiful and adorable.

Alisa lost me since CS1 mainly because of the VA. It was very low performance in comparison to the rest of the English cast. It got better as the games kept going, but by that time I had already met Laura, so... In any case, a beautiful ending for the canon couple.

Our of every character in the game, she was just so dull. Unbearably boring. Her tsundere personality is just so annoying and i saw all her character plot points coming a mile away. Also I've tried to make her decent in battle and she does pratically 0 damage to anything.
