CGRundertow ROBOTRON 2084 for Arcade Video Game Review

Robotron 2084 review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Robotron 2084 for Arcade (And Gamecube as part of Midway Arcade Classics).
I look at games like 2084 the way I guess kids these days look at Mega Man and RBI Baseball. Except I actually like this game. There's a hell of a lot of better I can stand to be at it, but this is the genesis of any number of twin-stick shooters, from Geometry Wars to Voltron. Watch TJ get the bejeezus shot out of him repeatedly!

Yes they do, almost every game with competitive online multiplayer has leaderboards, it's literally the exact same thing.

it isn't that the machine didn't want you to succeed. but rather it wants to challenge you, which explains the high score. this is where one is given bragging rights when they have the high score. today, there are no bragging rights because no such challenge exists any more.

Well if you really want an answer, then yes it does because AI back then was so primitive that it was ridiculously easy to earn high scores at the arcade, this game would obviously be one of the few exceptions, but if you want another example there are many newer single player and co-op games that have leaderboards as well, most newer arcade style games especially are much more difficult than older ones, of course it varies from game to game, but that is generally the case.

I don't have a K/D on COD because I don't play it, but please explain to me how exactly they're different? They're both just screens showing the players' high scores, they are literally the exact same concept and you're just deluding yourself if you think they're not which is kind of pathetic honestly.

That had to be the worst game play footage I have ever seen. Whoever was playing that was 3 years old, had an IQ less than the number of cans in a 12-pack, and was blind to boot.

hahaha! you still don't get it. it's against a human, not a machine. the machine is not challenging you, which makes it easier to earn high score as opposed if the machine challenged you. i can get a high score by killing more noobs. does that make me a better player?

hahaha! arcade games were meant to challenge you. it starts easy to settle the player on the field and get's harder and harder as it progresses. look at pacman, you can say that the game lacks ai because the ghouls are floating around randomly, but it doesn't make it any easier for the player to progress nor does it make it easier for the player to earn points. btw, look at the modern ai for pacman, kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5TYXp5voqdnh7s, where's the challenge if the enemies just follow.

hahaha! competitive online multiplayer. there is no match with the machine. in arcades, the computer is programmed to challenge you, which is a lot harder. with online competitive multiplayer, you are playing against a human being. i could challenge a noob at the other side of the screen and make a billion kills. does that make me a good player?
