nice tut, would you still get intersecting geometry while using the deformer instead of cloth? or does the smoothing stop intersection? thanks

I think the cloth version would be more accurate for intersections, I dont think deformers can calculate intersections, I'd just play around with it until it looks good;)

This is such a great tutorial! I'm wondering if there's a way to adapt this somehow to drape a cloth over an object at all? Essentially have a falling piece of cloth that lands and covers an object (like a statue or a person). I'm assuming a collider on whatever the object is and then a wind deformer or something to give it some nice motion once it's landed? Thanks so much!

Using C4D S22 - mine kept rendering as a sphere without the jiggle deformer. discovered you must add Cloth Tag to subdivision surface in order for deformer to render as well!
@CGShortcuts4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up;)
@beniaminovitagliano28396 жыл бұрын
Great video! Quick question: once I apply jiggle + smoothing, the sphere renders differently than what it looks like in the Octane viewport. Octane viewport is more detailed then the exported version, do you know why? Thanks!

Cheers Beniamino! You might want to try doing a point cache on the sphere animation before the final render, that might do the trick. Thanks for watching!

Hey Dave! I tried to render out the results but had an issue with the animation frames in the viewport not matching the frames rendering to the picture viewer. Thanks for the great tutorial! But somehow when I want to apply textures to it it doesn't show at all in the render preview, nor in the render itself. Did I miss something that is common knowledge but I just don't know about - And did someone experience something similar?
@patrickh49683 жыл бұрын
If you are using the reflectance material as per the tutorial, it will appear black in the render view..."This is because there is nothing in your scene to reflect in your object, so while the viewport will invent some, so that your viewport display looks nice, the renderer won't unless you actually put something there to reflect. Most usually that is done by adding a Sky Object to the scene and applying an HDRI to the Luminance channel of its material".

Hi Dave, i tried the same method but with a plane to get a flag effect. it looks great in the view port but the problem is that when i render there is a giant hole in the plane. whats happening there?
