I love these! I’m learning Maya with VRay for VFX right now, and these are the only good tutorials I’ve been able to find on KZbin! I’d love to see more :)

Thanks man. I probably need to step up my title and thumbnail game. I'm not sure these topics are very popular though.

@@CGStirk these are unpopular obviously people need cheap tricks like what they call as SPECIAL EFFECTS Using softwares like maya can attract people who wants to become professionals but using blender attracts Indies the same applies to Nuke/AE too, to attract more indie creators try capturing footages, composting CG using element 3D with most accurate lighting and photography and that's not such a big deal right let's give it a chance to target audience ;)

hi, great tutorial, one question , if i have to make shadows catcher with plane and image seqence in camera, to make 3d implemetation in real footage i use wrapper material but i can't find a way to export only shadows and composite after how i can do?

i put wrapped into shader ovveride but continues to create problems

@davide tomelleri There are a few ways you can do this. Assuming you're using Maya and V-Ray, apply the V-Ray Object Properties node to the object (find this in the V-Ray shelve or the V-Ray menu at the top of the UI), and inside the node that's applied turn on Matte object, set Alpha contribution to -1.0, turn on Shadows and Affect alpha. You can do the same thing with the V-Ray wrapper material, for example, if you want to override a collection on a render layer. You can also just bypass all this and extract the shadows with the raw shadow render pass (AOV), but that does require that the plane that's catching the shadow is large enough. You can use a V-Ray plane for this, which is infinite. Let me know if you need more help.
