for those who didn't get what happend: in 5:00 he moved the elbow control offset with Z axis and after snap it to locator in 5:19 he changed the axis to X axis and moved it again till locators overlaped. at last thank you for these helpful videos :) sorry if i had mistakes in my english.

Really nice trick! Here's a quick tip from me: I would recommend using "modify-> match transformations" to match transformations between objects.. It's a bit faster than using constraints and then deleting constraints all the time. You could also use locators to mark or basically store certain positions/rotations and then use match transformations the snap objects to that "stored position" -> the locator. You coud easily make a supersimple melscript out of that trick to automate this nice trick. No need for distance between nodes.

Thank you for the video! Do you have any suggestions on the knee vector? The only way I can get it to match with the FK skeleton is by pushing that knee vector in front of the other knee which is not ideal 😩

Oof, this is the exact problem I'm having. Quick question: I snapped my elbow control offset to the locator that didnt move. Now that I'm supposed to move the elbow control offset so that the other locator is in the same position as the one that didnt move - I just end up in the same elbow ctrl position as before instead of the new, assigned one. Did I miss something?

Hi! Did the elbow move initially before you tried to do this? Sometimes, if the arm is built along a plane, the elbow doesn't move.

This is the problem I'm currently dealing with. But for some reason when I bring the elbow control back even just a little bit, the arm twists dramatically. Like way too much. Is there any reason for this happening?

Hi, sometimes its because of maya itself. Just save your project and restart maya. If you are using laptop dont forget to activate turbo mode for full functionality. I had same problem.

For everyone having this issue, the best way to fix it is to not let it happen at all. So that happens during the joint creation process. Go into the side view to create your joints and make sure the projected centring is off. Then you'll see all the joints are in the centre, move the bicep (humerus) joint to where you want it to be, but instead of moving the forearm (radius) joint, you instead rotate the bicep joint so that the forearm is in the correct position. If it's a bit too high, you can grab the forearm bone, change the move type to parent and only drag the y-axis down along the bicep joint. This way there are no rotations in the bicep joint and any rotations are made by you. Then you can do the same steps for the hand joint. Just rotate the forearm joint but only in the axis you want the forearm to bend, don't rotate it in any other. If the hand is a bit off, then just translate in parent again but only on the y-axis which goes along the joint and then position it. This removes any weird bending in the elbow joint and also stops the joint from rotating when pulling the controller back.
