As far as your "reaching for the crown" remark goes I can only guess you mean a US (or maybe a Western) crown. Are you serious? Have an honest look at US / West data. There is not one data point that says there is a crown there. In its 2500 years of existence China has lived within its borders and is now re-emerging from a dreadful era as a pre-emminent country. Always a pleasure listening to professor Sachs views on current economic situation and tension between China and the USA. The US's hegemony over China, not just China but western hegemony over the rest of the world it's absolutely disgusting and need to be stopped. World need to work together, helping eachother to develop a much fairer and healthier economy, not dominant continuously by imperialism of the west, suppress the rest. World is changing, our planet is sick by humanity's greed, and everyone else is suffering, that's not good, learn to share, preserve and cherish so we can go further, destruction seems the only thing we are doing so well right now, it's pathetic and sad...

In my efforts to understand the emergence of Donald Trump as a political phenomenon in the United States, I have come to the conclusion that Trump is the Avatar of the United States. One of Trump’s traits, which is also a strong American trait, is the belief that if they lose a contest, it can only be because the other side cheated. I remember that attitude coming out when they discovered that the Japanese were building better cars than American automakers.

The flip side is that they always think they win because they are the better player, not that they have crappy opponents. Washington DC didn’t inherit the imperial throne after WWII because they were more competent, but because they were literally the last one standing, protected by geography, not superior skill. The same with the Cold War with the Soviet Union. The US prevailed not from any better strategy, but from the USSR's own dysfunction. The US had zero expectations of their collapse and wasted a decade on neoliberal crisis management that played a large role in the rise of Putin. The US spent over four decades challenging the Soviets, yet was clueless when the Berlin Wall came down, because all they know is war. Peace is never positive according to their mindset; it merely a ceasefire until the next round.

The US economy, through "hedonic replacement" under measure of inflation is dramatically overstating its growth While China is doing the opposite. Every year the same price gets you a better phone, more features in your car, more energy efficient fridge. "Deflation" in China is driven by absolutely massive falls in energy prices and supply chain efficiencies. The gini coefficient measuring inequality is actually falling. So a middle class Chinese person is growing their income far faster than the headline GDP numbers _and_ that income buys higher quality things. The exact opposite is true in the US.

It’s great with STEM education, but that education system is also flawed in that it does not cater for the needs of those who are not good at STEM. China accumulated USD$3.5 trillion dollars in foreign exchange reserves, while their annual trade surplus just reached USD$1 trillion dollars this year. China has four of the five largest banks in the world in terms of assets, China accumulated 2,265 tonnes of gold reserves. According to WIPO, since 2017, China is the world biggest contributor to patents application.

Urgent: Our nation, the USA, is in danger. Let’s not ignore the truth anymore. I am speaking on behalf of millions of American-born heroes, whose ancestors were Africans, Arabs, Asians, Hispanics, and even white Americans in some cases. These are the voices of a world where the USA wages war on every country to halt their progress. A true leader leads by example, not through violence. My family, like countless others, carries the deep scars of war. I never got to meet most of my relatives or grandparents-lives torn apart by violence I had no part in. We’re doctors, scientists, veterans, lawyers, and professionals, yet we’re told to “go back home,” even though the USA is the only country we’ve ever known as home. How many more families must suffer? How many more children will grow up without a home, a history, or a future? Will Israel continue dismantling nations, creating refugees, and leaving destruction in its wake? The result: Netanyahu gaining unchecked power, turning even America into a nation controlled by dictatorship. In a few decades, the USA will be a minority-majority nation, with over 60% being minorities. Who will lead then? Leaders in Congress are already bought and paid for by AIPAC, serving Israeli interests instead of American priorities. Our nation is being sold piece by piece, and our future is being destroyed by wars that only benefit foreign powers. This endless cycle of war, destruction, and hate must end. We cannot build a future on fear and division. America’s survival depends on peace, truth, and unity-not on the devastation of innocent lives. Thank you for sharing this raw and necessary truth in your video.

Notably, China's foreign trade is increasingly characterized by a shift toward being "green," "intelligent," and "innovative." Supported by a comprehensive manufacturing system, China not only efficiently and cost-effectively meets the diverse needs of global markets but also enhances production efficiency and product quality through intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation. This technology-driven upgrade has enabled "Made in China" products to shed the label of "cheap," achieving a balance between quality and affordability that improves its competitiveness in international markets.

China gets a lot of bad press in the West. It’s just jealousy in my opinion. I lived in China for a few years and was very impressed with their development and work ethics. It was a good experience for me and I hope they will continue to grow and better the situation for their people. Yes it’s mere rhetoric the so called collapse. Agree 100% with the Professor.

If china is leading in new technologies it would not need to import advanced chips it would of course make their own! China bought or stole the high speed rail technologies from Europe and still cannot make the specialty steel and ball bearings needed for this technology. Tesla still has much more advanced software and manufacturing technologies than any of the 400 non profitable Chinese EV companies. Only BYD is making money and it is not on its BEV. Ut on Hybrids which is of course Japanese and American technologies. China at present is not the leader in any of the advanced technologies Jeffrey claims. It has a massive lead in manufacturing of low and middle tech industries such as Auto Solar and consumer electronics. It does not make the most advanced computers,chips,autos,Rockets,airplanes, or military hardware. It does have the most advanced manufacturing capability in the world. It also has a large hard working highly educated workforce force which if you believe Peter Zeihan is rapidly aging out. I have manufactured products in China for the last Twenty years. They are capable of manufacturing anything if you show them what you need. The work is high quality rapid and delivered on time. It is also the cheapest in the world but that is changing.

If you have been to China you see people living contented comfortable lives with less crime. In the USA we have to worry about gun violence and other crimes, we have racial injustice and schools and healthcare that neglects poorer communities. It's because of all the unrest here we elected a person who ultimately will serve only his own needs and that of the super rich. I don't want to live in China but we have to get our act together here.

@SupremeMaster-he4rc
@SupremeMaster-he4rc 3 күн бұрын
@@keithwolfson9672 The French and Japanese pioneered high speed rail. HSR is not a priority in the Americas. Chinese wonder why America is not filled with high speed rail. The reason is because Americans love to fly and drive. Passenger Railroads (in Western America built in the 1800s with Chinese labor) were very important only until the 1930s when commercial air travel became popular. In the 1950s President Eisenhower built a massive national highway system which became the model for the world. Even Chinese were apparently influenced by it to some degree. This highway system and affordable cars made driving extremely popular in America in the 1960s onwards. Americans will drive hundreds of miles just for the fun of it. But they'll fly from coast to coast or even a few states across. Greyhound buses are still popular for poorer and older Americans. The Mega bus route from DC to NYC is probably more popular than any rail system in America's east coast. So because we have so many ways to travel safely and cheaply across a huge country, high speed rail is a novelty. Also to us, rail is better at carrying freight and not people. Many Americans may feel something moving that fast on the ground is not too safe like HS rail. So flying is a better option. Americans aren't concerned too much with Chinese technology, tall buildings etc. Futurism was only important in the 1930s to 1960s in the West. So when Chinese are baffled that Americans don't care about HSR, we don't see a problem. Only Chinese historical places are important to Americans like The Great Wall, Xi'an soldiers, Forbidden City, Tianamen Square, Chinese traditional dress, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tsinghua University, Peking Opera, Chinese Kanji and food. These are on people's bucket lists and not necessarily seeing Chongqing, Shenzhen or Guangzhou. But remember that the vast majority of Americans don't have a passport.

Didn't The US (foolishly) rebuild Japan's industrial capacity, specifically their Steel Industry after WW2? I spoke with a business colleague while in Pittsburgh in the late 80s and he said we rebuilt and modernized Japan's Steel Industry, and our Unions resisted modernizing our rusting steel industry. The results were our steel Industry collapsed and we started importing our steel from Japan!

Yes, yes, I heard of the China collapse for years and years. For example the KZbin channel 'China In Focus' told me this and many other bad things about China over and over again. I have to say this: The propaganda style of that channel is really good. It's all so well spoken, so nice, so serious, so concerned, so intriguing. In fact I have been waiting for the end of China for so long ... LOL. No, not really. There is something biblical about such channels: They predict something big and then it never happens. Somehow I could feel sorry for them because they are so wrong and they seem to be incapable of accepting reality. But I don't. After all, they are paid very well for all the propaganda. For some time I haven't watched those channels. I really had enough.

I know the channel you're talking about. I probably watched 10 or so episodes. That's some spicy, well organized narrative. Unfortunately, it takes time for anyone to sift through the noise and find something with objective backing. It's just a human fallacy we'll appeal to apparent authority, because most people still truly just want echo chambers, confirmation bias. Personally, for world economic news, I watch Sean Foo, a Singaporean investor who presents lots of data along with his opinion. At least he genuinely invites the audience's own opinion.

There have been quite a few American "experts" like Prof. Sachs who serve Washington as propagandists. The first one was Gordon Chang, a well-known certified American accountant who wrote the famous book "China's Coming Collapse." However, his sensational prediction never came true. On the contrary, China's economy has been growing steadily as ever. Then came other Cassandras making similarly dire predictions about China's economic prospects. Before long, their forecasts also proved wrong. How could any intelligent people believe such unchangeably dire predictions about China again except idiots. By the way, China is the only country in the world which has opened its huge consumer market to about 150 countries around the world for the common good, while the U.S. has still restricted imports from most of the countries across the world, including its allies, such as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and quite a few others. How shamefully self-centered and egotistic are American leaders! No wonder, former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte called U.S. presidents and diplomats "Son of a whore," "Son of prostitute," which are being repeated by millions of South Korea's, Taiwan's and some other countries' workers and executives whose companies' huge exports to China have been banned by Trump and Biden!

With its past monarchy and present totalitarian history, China's leaders will inherently fear any separation of power. The private sector success has of course spawned a class of wealthy entrepreneurs, which the government has already tried to silence. Xi Jinping is a throwback to an earlier time. He is a party ideologue, bent on territorial expansion and state ownership of everything.. Xi has stalled the Chinese economy with this approach. I do not see collapse or revolution in China. There are still too many alive who were close to starvation in the past. Until a Confucian reformer in the style of Deng Shiao Ping takes leadership, once again, economic contraction will persist.
