its not sustainable. dont see cheap .. see sustainable . the organisation subsidising this wont be able to do this for long once china collects debts towards the repayment period . thats where shit hits the fan . you would be worst of if not managed well. in fact china dont want u to suceed because defaulting payment usually includes land or port take over, like what happened in sri langka.this is invasion at a whole new level and soon they will forbid locals in that area. that smiley and humble chinese folks that once u had a deal with , wont be so anymore.

10 years ago, I go to college in China traveling >12hours on train. They cut down this time to ~4 hours in recent years. Now Africa people enjoy this new high speed train system. You guys really got the best thing China have. I live in the US now, there is no high speed train here......What a pity for me...LoL

Even better do join venture with them and make sure they transfer tech and owership to Indonesia...That was how China becomes another tech giants in many areas. I am from Thailand living in USA. ASEAN needs to start building own planes, fighters, high speed trains, heavy equipments, ships, solar panels, telcom equipments etc. via smart partnership with China, Japan, German and other countries who are willing.

Japan left Thailand too. Such a shame, japan. They just canceled joint venture project and offered a long term loan project if we want to build the HSR. Without China, we never have the dream come true. Thank you god to have china in this world.

Kace N spelling error...there is no difference in America and kenyas debt..a debt is a debt that has to be paid back and if not payed back no country will do business with U.S they will see how dishonest untrustworthy they are.... the only difference is kenya debt is payable, america debt is not.and not to mention china is up buying plenty property in the united states and in the U.K., they are doing this world wide. Now the U.S. is in the trillions that owes china..but funny thing is china already knows America will turn their backs on them one day..thats why the chinese is investing in africa so they dont have to be dependent on united states, they will have 54 countries to trade with in africa aka new trading partners , smart move on their part..and united states wouldn't dare start a war with china, that will escalate into ww3 and the whole world will be crippled..dont have to worry about china invaded kenya because they can repay china back because their debt is not nearly as much as united states...

Look at Japan actual progress. 13 years to build 67 km HSR in Nagasaki. 10 years to build 50 km city railway in Taipei. proposed a 28 km subway in Yangon will be in operation only by 2035. so a 600 km Jakarta Surabaya railway upgrade work will take how long? it may take 18 years or more. and have large cost over run and many disputes. Many Indonesian above 59 may not have a chance to see its completion

The train is new and look high class. Hope it remain the same after some times. Also I noticed the surrounding areas at most station are dusty roads. Will really look nice if can just tarred up with shops and cafeterias. Many envy and despise the co operation between china and African. Some asking the intention of china. The Chinese help to build the infrastructure because they need resources and cheaper labour for their industries, similar as US and some western companies who previously use china and asia cheap labour. They are even worst They didnt build infrastructure. They even took slaves or colonised Africa and most of the world.

Jija OMar ...100% true. What you pay and the standard you ask them to implemention is exactly what they will give you. The cHines are very flexible and work with every ones budget. I have done business with them so I know. If you want 1st class and long lasting and have the money to pay for it , this exactly what they will offer. If you want substandard , they can offer that too.

Assume the train maintains the maximum 120km/h throughout the 470km between msa and nairobi non stop, that gives you 4hours to be exact, now consider that the train will make stops at about 7 stations to drop and pick passengers, assume a minimum of 15 minutes per station, thats 105minutes(1 hour and 45 minutes) now that makes it 5hours and 45minutes.so guys when you decide to travel by train to nrb from msa, never plan for 5 hours, give it about 7hours to be on the safe side not miss any important appointments.

This is a Chinese state run news agency. I would take anything they say with a grain of salt. I hope this does for Kenya what they say it will, but it has put Kenya in debt to China many times their annual GDP. The grandchildren of the people of Kenya will be paying this debt. Plus, they brought in their own Chinese workers, rather than providing local job opportunities; and those workers were paid 2.50 a day. It looks like colonialism to me. I hope I'm wrong.
