The book lacks reference to any ash-crete layering in the soil record. Of course, there wouldn't be any where soil has eroded from deforestation and desertified. Holt, this doctrine is a thinly supported academic fad which is sadly influencing policy away from soil and aquifer restoration. On a related tangent, have you ever even heard of this masterpiece?
