Dr. Greg, jaundice can also happen because of increased conjugated bilirubin in the bloodstream. For example, when a gallstone blocks the common bile duct, the bile cannot be released into the duodenum, so it back up to the blood. And in this situation, when the conjugated bilirubin level in the blood is too high, jaundice can also happen.
