The most perfect lines, curves and cleanest design in a radial engine fighter. A beautiful plane and a superb fighter for its time, up until 1943.

As a boy growing up during ww2 in New Zealand, the Zero was a plane that we loved to hate. Now I see it as a beautiful fighter, restored in all its wartime glory.
It wasn't mentioned in this video, but the big advantage of the A6M was the range, which was 1800 miles. That was more than 4x most other fighters at the time. Meaning it could escort bombers deep into China, or say launch an 800 mile round trip sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. Yes, it was light and maneuverable. But, it ended up being a pretty poor gunnery platform in some maneuvers which the allied pilots abused once they figured it out. Definitely still a timeless marvel of aeronautical engineering considering the brutal constraints the designers were working with.
The Zero preference was for relatively lower speeds flight regimes was highly maneuverable but as speeds approached above 300 mph the flight surfaces began to resist stick inputs. The ailerons felt as is rooted in concrete. But in it’s regime it was unbeatable for tight turn maneuvers.

Only one other plane could outmaneuver ZERO in dogfight. It was also japanese plane - a briliant dogfighter Ki-43 .

Bit of a nifty kite. Nice lines, very clean. ちょっと気の利いた凧だ。ラインがきれいで、とてもクリーン。

They had a very much motorcycle clutch lever style gun selection system on the left hand cockpit fuel adjustment handle. Between cowl machine guns ( manually cocked ) and wing cannons. Either or both for a deadly burst if on target.

Wow! This plane left the ground in a hurry short distance. 😮
I spoke to a man ueRs ago who flew F4F Wildcats, F6F Hellcat, and Helldivers. He told me the Zero was a dangerous plane to fly against all the way to the end of the war.

Just amazing! This seems to be the darker caramel /khaki color.
Amazing video and restoration. Such a beautiful aircraft! In some of the shots it looks like the foot stirrup for getting in popped back out during flight, or maybe was forgotten to be put back into the fuselage?
Köszönöm a feltöltést. Kérném magyarul a szöveget, egy idős ember aki nem tud angolul. Laci

It's too bad they couldn't have used the original engine, but they probably are very few of them left and are hard to find. This is a beautiful restoration project. Just keep it flying.
