Ch'en's Cut Glowed?! - Arknights Perish in Frost Episode 4 Reaction & Impressions

This was a sad episode. Mephisto is actually the end bossfight of a whole chapter and he, together with Faust, is actually quite a cool fight, in gameplay and story, but somehow they rushed it all into one episode. Some things they completely brushed over compared to the game: - Mephisto raises a lot of Reunion troops, not just in the building but in the streets as well, and the normal troops have massive problems getting rid of them as they are basically instantly healing zombies at that point, so there are pretty desperate fights going on in Lungmen, nothing of that was displayed at all - Ch'en Chi Xiao is a cutting sword, it doesn't use fire at all, in game even the partial unsheath it represented by a super fast sweep in front of her - Blaze was a massive missed opportunity, her entry alone wrecks half the building in the game, while Amiya is riding on her back, they even cut the dialogue with the pilot about her jumping from that high without a parachute (granting that her powers are hard to depict, so they get a pass on that). - Faust was also a disappointment, he and his phantom crossbowmen are a big deal, his shots aren't just powerful, but with their invisibility they keep Ch'en from attacking, in the game the hallways of the building are even mentioned by the troops as being haunted because there are invisible crossbowmen running through The Frostnova stuff they cut out will probably be added at a later point, but how they directed the fight was very bad compared to what a big deal it and Blazes entry was in the game.

These two last episodes had less quality than the first two. I hope all budget went to chapters 5 - 8 of this season.

It feels as if they’re saving all the budget for Frostnova and really dumbing down Faust and Mephisto to like half their strength, also the directing of this fight was lackluster compared to episode 2

@@warhammer3012 Not really, they are raised during that fight, it is just that we see what happened throughout the city that happens later, but even inside the building we saw no fighting at all.

One thing you might have missed is that Blaze is an Rhodes Island Elite Operator and are often times heavy hitters that can even the odds. Imo this was a very lackluster episode. The tension wasn't built up all that well before Blaze's introduction and animation was just ok to be modest.

This episode was a bit of downgrade compare to the source material. There is however a lot of forshadowing added here that I don't remember being there. This also probably confirms that there will be a season 3. Take note that Blaze is an Elite Operator, Rhodes island most powerfull operators.

Yeah.. Not the strongest episode out there. I think the only scene that they made look better than it was in original is Chen's cut getting affected by Mephisto's Arts. Everything else indeed was just carried by characters, like Amiya being best allie you can find out there and Swire just being Swire. With that, the chapter 5 was concluded (speedrunned) in just two episodes. But, the good thing is that we get a full 4 episodes for chapter 6, so *maybe* they will be able to make it justice, how they did with episode 2. And yeah, we are not done with introducing cute anime girls, so stay tuned.

As others said, this episode was a tad disappointing. A lot of the impact points were missed. Two things I'll note: 1) Its didn't really show how dangerous Mephisto's minions/power was. They were not as threating 2) How strong Blaze is. She is an R.I. Elite operator and makes a hell of an entrance here. She is NOT like the other named operators we've seen (which admittedly arent that many... Nearl, Frostleaf, and Meteorite)

Well, not like those 3 you mentioned are ( *lore-wise* ) lacking in their combat skill. This adaptation generally portrays characters weaker than they was/felt in the game's story.

Blaze inded is an AOE operator like all the other chainsaw wielders, and one of the two six star AOE Guards in the gama (alongside Gavial the Invincible) I don't know which list of characters you found, but assuming it's the one showing you recruitment tags. Blaze lacks the AOE tag in recruitment because tags tied to an operator is limited to 4. Then in recruitment itself you can pick up to 3 tags including Top/Senior Operator. (Character tag limit excludes Top/Senior Operator tags, the above line is really just how the game handles recruitment internally.) While I think AOE isn't the tag that should've been cut, that's how Hypergryph went about doing the tags.

There was actually a bit of disappointment in this episode. As an Arknights player who read the story in the game, because of the FrostNova scene, I quite hope that the action scenes and the plot in episode 11 are more epic than in the game. It seems like many things are missing, but I haven't researched what's missing. Maybe I will enjoy the anime more if I read the story in the game. Enjoyed this episode but I do think it's not as good as the source material this time. Seems like the scriptwriter from whatever studio they outsourced this episode to didnt know any arknights lore. Looking forward to the rest of the season

The foreshadowing was what made this episode good. Hope there is a season 3 so It can pay of. I think they rushed this episode and put the manpower into episode 5, since that should adapt 6-1 to 6-7, and we know from trailer 2 that 6-7 is geting anime original scenes.

This episode was pretty awful. A lot of iconic moments were kinda ruined, we rushed a lot and certain things are just...not accurate at all which made some people think this episode was outsourced for example Chi Xiao does not shoot fireballs that's straight up not lore accurate. Yes Blaze does bring the building down, infact ingame her impact from landing already causes a huge tremor on the building which is ment to introduce how Elite Operators are Rhodes trump cards and a single one can turn the tide of battle. They're all exceptional in one way or another weither they have been there since the founding of Rhodes or have been voted in as Elites by other Elites as they have veto rights inside Rhodes hierarchy.

Quite disappointing. they really tone down this episode (maybe for future fight scenes ?? idk ) Made Faust and his INVISIBLE snipers squad a joke. This is the part in the game where I seen Ch'en being a badass, not all big talk and blaze grand entrance

i only disappointed on the rooftop scene till end of the fight.... they did it good on frost nova but not this.... even the promotional animation in arknights official youtube channel ("Necessary Solutions") has better fight in short time.

personally the weakest episode, watching blaze debut is hard to watch, didnt even show any blood for her arts its just pink fire and faust didnt use his purple shot, even the goons looks very toned down
