Hey, Kay, have you noticed how Doritos bags are different colors than in the US? In the US, the default flavor is “nacho cheese” and comes in the red bag and there is no tacos flavor if I remember. In Japan, the tacos flavor comes in the red bag and “nacho cheese” comes in the the yellow bag. One of the first times I came back to Japan most recently, I grabbed the red bag thinking it was nacho cheese and it was not. After, I grabbed the nacho cheese flavor in the yellow bag and it didn’t taste right. It wasn’t terrible, but something was off. Same with Cheetos here. The default Cheetos is supposed to taste like cheddar, I think, but Japanese Cheetos default is something different. It’s almost sweet.

One of the things I miss when it comes to junk food is the selection of things in the US vs Japan. Take Pringles, I can walk into any King Sooper in Denver and have my choice of like 10 or more Pringles flavors. Pizza, jalapeño, regular, sour cream and chives or whatever. In Japan, I think Pringles has maybe like 4? And that’s if you order online, if you go to a local grocery store, it’s usually two; just the default salt and sour cream.
The real secret is to take two double stuffed Oreos, take apart one side of each, smash them together... and make quadruple stuffed Oreos!! 😆

Zookatsu-san is correct! I bet Japanese people would like Trader Joe’s.

Also, Milky Way in Japan is what we Americans call Three Musketeers in the US! I bought a Milky Way here and, when I bit into it, I went wtf?? I don’t hate Three Musketeers, but I almost never buy them so it was a surprise.
