Women are attracted to Kirk because he's a real man! Alpha male! No one wants to be with a soy boy. What a wonderful movie. Hollywood isn't capable of making movies like this anymore. And the soundtrack...awesome!

@@NihongoGuy: she was perfect in 7th Heaven (even though I hated 7th Heaven), but she wasn't perfect in this role; however, I did love this movie (saw it in the theater in the 6th grade). There's a certain cheesiness with Kathy Bates that I just don't like and doesn't make her believable in this role, but I will acknowledge that she may have made those around her better.
