I am so glad you answered the question about becoming a bonus mom. I had no idea that the kids already spoke fluent English! That must have been so nice. I moved to Finland 5 years ago and my bonus daughter couldn't speak ANY English. Every 3 seconds it was "Mitä? Mitä? MITÄ?!" We have come very far since then but it was so difficult at first.

I have fluffy slippers by my bed side that I put on when I walk throughout my house in the morning since I have hardwood floors and its very cold. Or I'll just put on socks.

I always admired the shoes off rule In other countries and struggled to get guests on board about it. There’s always that one guest who has to be a smart ass about it and give you a hard time. Ironically due to COVID so many “ocd” things I’ve done for years I see those people do now like hmm how the turn tables, lol now that I have a toddler I’m more assertive about it. On another note I’m sure people in other countries run into that stress of they just put on their boots and realized they left their phone or keys in the other room.

Tip for your sock problem: in finland we have sock holders/clips called “Supi-sukkapidike”. You put your socks together before laundry and when you take them out they are still together in pair. It is a life saver in my big family and i think it could help you a lot too🧦❤️

For the no shoes rule. I will respect it and once I get my own house I'll let them do what they want. Only because I've met some people who can't afford socks that don't have holes or they can't afford to go to their local laundry mat as frequent as they should. And they don't want to stink up my parents house. And some times their parents can be neglectful and they are too afraid to tell their parents about holes in socks or needing to wash clothes in fear of being ridicule and yelled at.. Some people are too embarrassed to state what's going on behind close doors at their own homes. So like if any of my future kids bring friends over or anything, I wouldn't want them to feel pressured. If anything just mention if you would like to take your shoes off you can and out your shoes over here if not that's fine too, it's up to you. Make them aware there are 2 options. The no shoe option for sure helps keep things more clean but I'm not going to embarrass someone just so I have a little less cleaning to do. This comment isn't hating on chachi or anything. It's just another statement for anyone to read if they do want to impose a no shoe rule. But again to each their own
