Bc I too have issues with my extended family and it's taken me all my life to finally realize that there's nothing wrong prioritising my family and giving them a healthy life mentally as well. I just commented something similar about family. I'm having my daughter end of march and I'm really skeptical on who i want to involve in her life. I haven't reached that peak where i cancel out the toxic family member of mine cause in all honesty, im scared to. But i want to cause i dont want that energy around my new little family. “Blood means family” hasn’t been the case for me either with my parents and siblings. Which is why I want to show my son something different with our little growing family. My husband and I have made some pretty “drastic” decisions to keep him safe and healthy so he can flourish to his full potential. I’m sorry but if someone is toxic (family or not) either get your shit together or i’ll just distance me and my family. Proud of the person you’ve become Chachi! God Bless you and your family ❤️

Paws exactly the same for me. My son won’t know his maternal grandparents or aunt and uncle and at this point I’m not sorry about it. My husband and I have done all we can to make amends but you can’t change people. And my son deserves so much better.

MercedesGoVroom Totally understandable. I’ve set pretty drastic expectations and boundaries on my family. I would’ve done the same thing as you if they hadn’t changed. All parents should always make their kids priority no matter what. I truly believe in the saying “Raise your children in a way they don’t have to recover from their childhood/parents. Children cannot choose their parents.”

Me too, I don't have a good relationship with my grandparents or my siblings, my brother affects my mental health negatively however I do live at home still and my mum wants to see her grandbabies so I get dragged over to his house a lot to see my niece and nephews.

That's exactly how I felt after having my baby..you're still healing down there and trying to adjust to being a new mom and getting no sleep. It's very hard..and instead of being happy like u said I felt super down and overwhelmed. I definitely shed some tears but your body gets used to the odd sleep routine and u start getting used to things. Nobody said being a mom is easy, they just said it would be worth it 💗

The family of my husband don’t accept me and had put him on the side we don’t see them since March 2019 they never took the time to know me and they just snap at my husband when they find out I was pregnant, they haven’t met my son. And I feel is best, until everyone heals I’m not allowing my son to be in a toxic environment. Good for you Chachi 🙌🏻❤️

You already have your family. Jukka, Sophia, your friends. Blood does not always mean family. I come from an enviroment where my mom, who didn't have a good relationship with her family, forced me to engage with her family. Things weren't pretty. Now that I'm older I understand better some aspects of family relationship, but I truly believe you made the right choice taking your time because Sophia does not have to deal with your family issues just because she's your daughter. I came from a toxic family, and now that I’m pregnant, I’m terrified of my child seeing the toxicity and have the same mental issues I have. I had my first baby close around the same time you did as well. I had a baby girl ironically named Liliana Sophia, she was born 11/14/19. It's kinda scary being a first time mom but watching your videos honestly makes me feel relieved. Congrats on your baby girl!

I have similar issues with my family members as well & putting your family first is important so the decision u make is very important. No family is perfect but trying your best is key. When you mentioned blood not always meaning family, that put me at ease. I'm about to have my daughter and there's issues and vacancy between a parent of mine and i don't know whether or not to include them in my daughter's life or not and it's hard.. Thanks for being honest about your mental health. I had postpartum depression and anxiety and to me it seemed like people that have not suffered with it or don’t know about it aren’t always as supportive as they could be because they don’t understand what you are going through.

My kids have close family members, they have distant family members, then they have family members that we steer clear from. If someone is toxic to you, they are toxic to your child. Never let anyone make you feel bad for trying to create a happy, healthy environment for your family. Mommy knows best after all! *I'll be 23 this year and my kids will be 2, 3 and 5.

Thank you for talking about postpartum, and postpartum depression. It seems like a taboo topic, everyone talks about pregnancy and birth, but rarely do we hear the world wind of emotions you feel after you go home with baby, I always tell family & friends.. birth was hard, but postpartum was harder. The first two weeks, I didn’t even know myself yet I had a little baby needing and depending on me every second, to say it was an overwhelming feeling is an understatement. So the soon to be new moms out there, make sure your support system is there and ready, they will help greatly, & to those who don’t have that, be strong the tough days will pass, ... I promise, you’ll look back and be so proud you got through it, I know I am. ♥️
