We started a tradition when the kids were born. We have 2 sons. Casey was born December 8th so that is the day we put our Tree up. Chad was born on January 2nd and that is the day we take our tree down. After they were married and had kids we still do the same only now we have 6 GRANDS and They all come over and decorate the tree Dec 8th and take it down January 2nd. Our Chad passed away 4 years ago from occupational cancer but we still honor the tradition and take the tree down on his birthday, We miss him so badly but know we will see him soon when Jesus comes to take us home. ❤

Erin, There are doing so much rebuilding in western NC and eastern TN....yall may benefit coming back closer. THere are so many volunteers needed also. Chimney ROck and Lake Lure. Swannonoa. Black Mountain...and BUncombe, Avery, Yancey, MAdison counties in NC. Henderson county. I follow Jason A Ward. He set up a drop off and donation center. Called SIlverdos. There are many trying to start building. These ppl are living in tents!!!! and it has been so cold and snowing in some places. I can't imagine the weight of that snow onthe tent tops.

That was so sweet. Many years ago we moved into a new house on December 17. The Christmas tree was up before the furniture was moved in. And we came from a very small house so my husband and daughter went and got the tree. When they brought it in it took up a large part of the frontroom it was so big. Love those memories. Hope y’all have a blessed Advent and Christmas season! If you haven’t heard of the “Jesse Tree,” you’ve got to look into it! It’s something we do along with lighting the Advent candles. There’s an ornament (or sticker/ magnet etc) for Dec 1 through Dec 24. It covers all of creation history and shows how each symbol on each ornament ties back to Jesus. (For example, one day is a shoot/ tree stump and the scripture is “a shoot will sprout forth from the root of Jesse…” It’s very helpful for keeping Christ at the center of the season. I found mine at StudioSenn, but I know there are lots online and you could even make your own. ❤️
