Finally !!! Someone is teaching me how to set-up my baits for Flippin ‘n Pitching for bass. I just purchased a 7’3” heavy rod and an 8 to 1 Reel. No instructions come with the reel so I have to search for videos to teach me. I never heard about “Line Stops” until this video. Also - I fish out of an Eddyline Caribbean kayak and don’t want to crowd myself out of what little space I have available. Thank You for making your technique simple and to the point. You have a new fan & I’m subscribing. Glenn in S. Central Florida

Thank you. Yesterday I missed 30 fish because I was fishing the top and they just hit it. Time to start punching and flipping. Trying it in my first online tourney Tuesday.

Thx so much for this video. There are lakes that get so matted in the summer I avoid them. I feel like my only option is a frog or Senko. You gave a lot of great to tips for me to try.

Great tips Chad. Had never considered how important it is to let the plastic swing down first--always thought fish just grabbed the bait as it shot past and marveled at how fast they must be. Duh.

Awesome info Chad. Is there anything you do different you when pitching a lighter bait?
@ShobeBA6 жыл бұрын
Speaking more to the cast than setup
@ChadHooverFishing6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I generally preload the rod by holding the hook shank and it lets me sort of “shoot” the bait out farther. Hope that makes sense.
@supershrek336 жыл бұрын
Good info as usual. I think you technique videos have gotten 10 times better this year. I love watching the guys who fish from regular boats just like anybody else, but you have an amazing ability to connect kayaking and fishing with all the techniques. Thanks so much looking forward to more content.

Great video! Why don’t you use a left hand reel?
@ChadHooverFishing2 жыл бұрын
Because it would be backwards for me and how I fish.

Great vid and awesome tips but I wouldn’t say there’s only one knot for flippin because the snell knot gives you better hookup ratio but the Palomar is stronger so it’s off and on which one you decide to use
@ChadHooverFishing6 жыл бұрын
Alex Diaz Yeap, but using Braid the Palomar is the way to go. If I were using heavy mono or even heavier flouro, I would use the Snell.

PLEASE do a video on how to flip jigs & baits while sitting in a kayak. Not all of us can stand in a kayak, & getting the angle right while sitting in a kayak pushed by wind, waves, & obstacles makes it a puzzle to put it all together.

Try a menota rig for punching. The weight is below the bait so you can use less weight for more action

He's a very good instructor. Why Braided line tho? I've never used it. What's the importance m
@1976hellbilly6 жыл бұрын
Smaller diameter to weight ratio. Also super sensitive.
@unicornsteaks67695 жыл бұрын
There is another knot for flipping. Snell the hook. Put a bead between the weight and the hook so the bead goes into the eye and causes the hook to flip up when you set it. A guide, whom you probably know, showed me that.

Very informative Chad! Would you use an APR APXEC78H-MF or APXEC78XH-XF for punching? Looking at the Lew's Super Duty SDG1XHF for the reel.

I see your yak in the back ground do you store them outside? Also what weight was that you had on there
@ChadHooverFishing6 жыл бұрын
Matt Tucker yes, most of the time I store them outside. That’s the Woo Tungsten Punching weight in 1.5 ounces

Chad, Great rundown, you got that right about pairing the correct hook with the right #SoftPlastic. Thanks as always for providing us with great content.
@devildog19716 жыл бұрын
What do you think about using a Woo Bead in place of the second stopper? I started using it hoping that maybe that little clicking sound would add a little extra attraction and still keep the weight from bouncing into the bait.
@ChadHooverFishing6 жыл бұрын
HavasuMark I like it and I have used that similar setup. I talked about it a bit in my Click Bait video. I definitely need to use it more to quantify the effectiveness. Great comment and suggestion.

Great Video! Love the weighted swimbait hook idea. Have you made or can you make a walking a frog from a sitting position in a kayak video?

I noticed you didn't use a leader. Is that your standard set-up. Do you ever use a leader for flippin and pitchin?
@READERSENPAII4 жыл бұрын
i know this is old, but the reason you use heavy braid and no leader is because you're pulling a fish through heavy brush.

One of my favorite videos Chad!! I’ve always wanted to catch some hogs punching! Some fishermen swear by a snell knot compared to the Palomar when punching. Not sure which would be better when it comes to the hook set in a kayak. What are your thoughts? I really appreciate all of these informational videos. Keep up the great work! 👍

wayne nagle that’s because you likely don’t know the whole story. Yeti supported the NRA better than most for ten long years. When they decided to change the program, the NRA through them under the bus. Then cooler companies came out of the woodwork declaring their support. Where were they before that? Where were their guns pics. Most of them where all bandwagon. Yeti supports the outdoors, youth programs and more television and media projects to support hunting and fishing than anyone out there by a long shot. I’m an NRA supporter and I am a staunch second amendment supporter, but I will continue to support Yeti for what they do and have done over the years.

I personally like the trocar big nasty flippin hook and a snell knot. that hook is thin and strong. but I also haver just about every other flippin hook out there. a lot of great hooks and each hook has certain baits it fits better in i.m.o. good info and great video.
