I'm saving up to get a kayak to fish out of right now. I've fished out of a few before but they weren't built for fishing. I've tournament fished for years but now I can't afford a bass boat so I'm going to give kayak a serious try. I'm no slouch when it comes to fishing. Grew up doing it and I'm in my 60s now. Some anglers around here feel I'll be out of my element. It's fishing!!!! I got this better than they even imagine. Thanks for sharing this video Chad. I've been watching the TV show for a few years now. That's where I I decided to get a kayak and show myself as well as others that I can do it & so can they

Sounds like I’ve got a badge and a grudge and today was your day. Jeff recently went through he same crap. I could understand them being aggressive if y’all was destroying things but when somebody is just fishing and enjoying the natural resources God blessed us with let them fish and enjoy nature

Yeah. I think so too. This was actually the same time that Jeff went through this, we were tougher on this trip I just waited longer to release mine.

It's these types of interactions, whether justified or not that throws a bad taste in people's mouth about their desire to even go anywhere near these places. These interactions keep people away and also their money from the communities around the places we want to fish. Keep up the good work.

Chad, you won’t believe this, but I know exactly where you were, and I’ve gotten a ticket there too. I found the spot from a local (I live 30 minutes away). I fished there for 2 years before the conservation officer started aggressively patrolling. It’s a lot of work to paddle into the open area you were fishing, but there are hogs in there. I’ve caught several 7-8 pounders there. But I haven’t been back in about 3 years. I miss that place.
@ChadHooverFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rick. That’s exactly what we were working in there for. Apparently the landowner likes to let his friends fish back in there. Just out of principle I’m going back next year and setting up a trail camera and make sure it’s totally invisible and we will be able to watch and see who goes in and out of there and if she tickets them for “illegal use of the Right Of Way”. I’m also considering posting the exact launch you need to go to and exactly how to get to the borrow pits. Probably not, but I’m considering it.
@rickwhittington2 жыл бұрын
I wrote the land owner and asked for permission to access. He replied with NO. I’d love to know where to launch and how to access the borrow pits!

How do you maneuver your rod to keep a fish pinned on light fishing rods? Some people say keep your rod high and tension on. Some people say keep your rod down and maybe even in the water to keep the fish from jumping. I’m usually parallel casting the bank to either my left or right and most of catches get hooked 20 - 30 feet to either side of me. I know every component of your combo makes a difference including hook , line, rod action, but I’m just curious about the best technique for how to hold a rod and fight the fish
@ChadHooverFishing2 жыл бұрын
The key is the keep the rod bent, somewhat out in front of you (even when it’s up) so you don’t get too far agains the “wall” and can’t fight the fish anymore. I try to keep changing angles to keep the fish from having the advantage by getting the road to straighten out. Higher speed reels help with this quite a bit, especially in a kayak since we are going towards the fish when it’s coming towards us. Hope that makes sense

Typical over policing in this country anymore, a law should only exist stop one person from infringing on the rights of another person. Your vehicle parked there did not hurt anybody. Really enjoy your videos, and you as a person, not many would in your position would have taken the time to help me like you did. Your the best keep on reeling.

Good stuff! And that's too bad I'm sure it gets difficult keeping up with all the laws and all the different places that you travel to fish. But at the same time you'd think they would have universal laws through the dot and fishing wildlife
@ChadHooverFishing2 жыл бұрын
It’s really not an issue, it’s this one conservation officer and land owner, pretty much everywhere else in Virginia you can do exactly what Jeff and I did and there will be no issue whatsoever.
