Great video on one of my all time favorite judokas. I used to obsessively watch these Fighting Films videos, especially Koga: A New Wind. Thanks for all your hard work and amazing content!

We had Inchul Cho as an instructor briefly. He had lightening fast foot sweeps and a powerful, whipping yoko tomoe nage. In a major final, Koga threw him onto his head but rolled him over for the ippon. Cho was upset by the ippon awarded and left the tatami without shaking Koga's hand. I think there is a clip out there. Cheers.

I don’t know of Mr. Asano, but isn’t Mr. Swain famous for his mats? I’m not a Judoka, but did have a free lesson at John Ogden’s Dojo in Long Beach, CA in the late ‘50s or early ‘60s.

@@donelmore2540 Hi Don. Mike Swain was a U.S. Judo Olympian, as was Kevin Asano. They both trained @ San Jose State University. Mr. Asano won a Silver in the Korea Olympics, I believe. Mr. Swain trained and fought against Koga in a few tournaments, I believe. He founded his Tatami Mat and Judogi business after he retired from Intl. Judo competition. Cheers.

@@bartofilms Wow, San Jose State must have had a very strong program. There is a video somewhere of Hayward Nishioka tossing around one of the Gracie’s. He was US National AAU Judo Champion and a very early US Karate Black Belt under Ohshima Sensei.

Chadi, Please listen to this carefully. No joke (Please look into this), I've got a great story and content for you. In 1987 I trained a man named, Antônio Lacerda, He was later known as Mestre da Morte (Master of Death). I tought him many deadly techiqnes passed down to me by Count Dante of Dim Mak. Such as the 'Atomic bomb' and 'Pliers'. I then renamed the art 'Yawara' This is where it gets real. Much like Count Dante, Antônio Lacerda was also involed in Dojo wars and stole a famous Judoka and BJJ Black back named Edson Carvalho. Yes, the Judo Black Belt under Georges Mehdi (you did a video on him). BJJ black belt uner Carlson Gracie. One day at Georges Mehdi's Judo Club their was a famous fight. Long story story short they famous Wallid Ismail (the same person that feuded with the gracies) was badly beaten half to death by Edson Carvalho. Antônio Lacerda paraded through the city with the bloody gi jacket of Ismail. (I was so proud) It wasn't untill Marco Ruas (the famous) walked away from Antônio Lacerda that people stopped caring about Yawara. Anyways Edson later trained many great and famous fighters like Amanda Nunes, Mark Ramos and *********** . Crazy side story I met one of Edsons Black Belt in Calgary 2016, and they knew the Plier. Thought you should know some real Brailizan Judo and BJJ history and would love to hear what your thoughts are on... -Edson Carvalho -Antônio Lacerda, later known as Mestre da Morte -This Famous Fight -How these street fights strengthened what worked in BJJ and seperated it from Kodokan Judo -Yawara is now a JJ and do you think its bs? -Me contribtuing to the creataion of BJJ
