@@counterkidnapping1737 Ivan Vasilchuk destroyed his channel. He simply deleted all the videos because as he said 70% of his subscribers were from Russia. He refused to talk Russian and refused to practice sambo, because it is Russian martial art. Crazy dude.

The history and training methods of Sambo are fascinating . When Systema integrated more Sambo arts, it was a definite plus. Great interview and Thanks.

I agree with separating and putting into two categories, the competitor and the recreationalist, competitor can be a killer but it may be because his athletic and necessarily because of technique and may not be able to teach concepts when he or she tries to teach, while the recreationalist although not fit enough, if trains consistently will have better understanding of the concepts. I think both are needed to keep the art alive. for example in boxing Freddie roach wasn't a boxing superstar but his knowledge created great fighters.
@haraldodunkirk14322 жыл бұрын
Sure, but Roach was still a pro boxer, as was Brendan Ingle. Neither great pros but still likewise. Same in soccer, like Marinho and Wenger.

Me too. Started judo in 1984. Its 40 years for me now. Still playing. I wished i had some soviet training when back in the day. I wished i had a sambo background. It was forbidden to go to soviet union, and unwise at that time. 🥝🇳🇿🥋👮♂️

Wrestling and all folk style belt varieties are strongly correlated with patriotism in Russia. Army, marine, police, special forces, intelligence, emergency services and all uniform wearing orgasations are the main recruiters for hundreds of thousands of Russian wrestlers. No other sport has bigger cohort within these structures than wrestlers. It was like that back in USSR, it is the same in our days and will be the same in the future. Wrestling community and Russian governmental structures are extremely interconnected. I will tell you more: wrestling community in Russia has a huge influence on organised crime community at all levels. If reputable wrestlers ask for something (good or bad) criminal world very often is doing what they were asked for.

Hi Chadi. I just discovered you began judo at 27 (I began BJJ at 29) and I am curious to know if you have an outside job or if you live from judo. I very often think about quitting my career to dedicate full time to martial arts but since I'm still a beginner I have no clue how I'd be able to monetize it since I don't have enough experience to teach. I was wondering if you have any video on your channel explaining your trajectory. If not, could you make us one?

Great comment and good question.
@fennec8122 жыл бұрын
Obviously, I don’t want to comment for Chadi here, but my understanding is that his full time job is KZbin. Of course, martial arts themed content. Personally, I’d be pretty careful about full timing martial arts though. Remember, there is a time limit on most professional MA careers and 99% of people who have them aren’t going to make enough to live off of post-retirement. Yes, you can run a gym/dojo, but a majority of those are basically just barely self sustaining. KZbin is probably the most viable way to go, but the average KZbin channel also only lasts about 7 years currently in terms of “big” success (and that’s assuming you take off to begin with). You will also inevitably be as much-if not more-of an entertainer on KZbin which means you’ll often be directing training/research around content rather than personal development. For number on how much fighters make, the video “Fighting in the Age of Lonliness” has a section. It covers MMA but that’s currently the most successful MA scene so just scale down for grappling. There are also other things to consider… living expenses, health insurance, if you want to support a family, etc. I’m not saying it’s impossible to do, but you will probably have to make sacrifices and plan things out very carefully. Make sure you have a plan B and C as well if you intend to pull the trigger on an attempt.

I dunno how it works in former Soviet countries, but something like Elo ratings, or how American wrestling uses scores like ratings percentage index (RPI), the NCAA Coaches’ Panel (CP), winning percentage (WP), tournament seed (Seed), and the Tournament Power Index (TPI).
