Chris is out of the shot in this “bootleg” video but I always love playing melodies with him. The trumpet-tenor hookup in jazz is a special thing, and I always feel really locked in when we play together. In the last A section of the head, for a split second I remember being thrown off by how similarly we played the concert G. It almost sounded like the same instrument to me. Chad you’re one the greatest Tenors of our time, anyone claiming to listen to jazz (and beyond) should know your name.

It was great being at your show last night at SFJazz (two days after this Blue Note date - I guess hopping across country is what it means to be on the road!!) I'm the Mike who approached you on the sidewalk last night before you were whisked off to your hotel. I was hoping to ask you about Nathan, maybe another time. Watching this Blue Note bootleg is like revisiting how I felt during your SFJazz gig. A truly magical night of deeply felt musicianship from all the folks who took the stage. Hope you come back to SF soon!!

Funny at the exact moment toward the beginning I noticed the similarity between tenor and trumpet, your comment popped up in the video. Brilliant as always.

Who s the tenor guy !? Never heard of him before! He's a real Jazz tenor reborn ! 🎷 The old spirit of sonny rollins , John Coltrane lives in him. Chris Botti is really like Myles , letting someone else play all the notes for him 😆🎶

So great! Great tone, great harmonies, great lines, great time-feel, great everything! Love it! I could hear a lot of reverb. Is that something you requested during the sound check, or was that just what the sound person did on their own? (I saw a sound check with Eric Alexander, and he kept asking for more and more reverb...)
