When most jazz colleges and universities teach chord scales without examples of how to use them in a solo, Chad is a great teacher who shows precisely what we should learn to improvise. Thanks, best sax teacher on youtube.

You coming in to visit us down in Palm Beach was amazing and I was so excited to share the stage with you. I'm trying to up my game for the next step in my education and this video saying outright "You're not going big mode! My brother you need to hit the shed for the love of God!" is a suppliment of motivation. Always appreciate the work you're doing here.

I love the concept and presentation of the Rhythmic practice. Perhaps if I had done that I would have been more of the improviser that I wanted to be! I teach the same concept of metronome use in a classical clarinet world. I have a hard time getting people to believe me when I tell them how powerful it is. Loved the video

Thank you, Joe! I would actually recommend step 3 in this video! Focus on memorization and transposition. So much of application will start to come naturally when you internalize and transpose through the keys. Use the exercises written in all 12 keys as a way to help you memorize faster. Then, if you’re looking for more guidance, happy to work with you in my Text Lessons studio if you want to sign up for the waitlist! www.jazzlessonvideos.com/text-lessons

i just got a tenor sax after playing alto and bari for years and its amazing but i cant find anthing on how to learn what scales to use for what and how to practice soloing over chord changes chromatically but a little easier to start. Your tone is what i wish i could have and you are my idol and reason im still playing. Thanks for keeping me here. Also how do you deal with the constant condensation going down the side of the sax and dripping all over your fingers.

I have a quick question: I have your ten daily exercises and I've been trying to stay on schedule with them, sometimes I can get through them timely I'm taking them slowly because sometimes I miss my schedule. Then I find myself questioning whether I should take one at a time and get them down to a good speed, this would make my practice of them more time-consuming instead of focusing on getting through the whole ten and a moderate pace.

I've tried a few times to transcribe by ear, and it just an utter failure. Spending 20 minutes trying to figure out what pitch is happening is very discouraging. I just can't help but think I have terrible sense of pitch period.

I think his tip of singing it first is really important. Take a simple melody that you can already sing by heart and try to play that on your horn. It takes time to develop your ear (I'm still working on it too)

The first point is eye-opening for me…. Really something that has slowed my progress tremendously. Since the start of 2021, I made it a goal to practice everyday and document the concepts I practice. At this point I have nailed down the routine, and now have practiced everyday for 750+ days, but noticed that my progress has slowed down tremendously after the first year. I have fallen into practice running lines through all 12 keys of major and minor 251s, which is an easy concept to dig at, but it definitely feels like punching sand at this point. Thanks Chad for the video ❤
