When you saw this on Public Television in 1974, it was unlike any other thing you'd ever seen in the entire world. This was the first episode I ever saw in broadcast, and it didn't look lame at all. It was completely groundbreaking and totally hilarious.

First saw this episode in 1977 on our St. Louis Public Television station, KETC. They would show Monty Python's Flying Circus on Sunday nights at 10. There was no censorship on public TV then, so we got to see all of the parts we could never see on American television. I loved the show (I actually recorded this episode and can be heard laughing all the way through it), the series and the troupe's films, but none of my friends ever really got it.

Probably because we were and still essentially are a British colony and we had a lot of the BBC shows aired down here. But we're in kinda of a unique position though where we got a lot of the U.S comedies as well. I'm actually on a Python FB group and a Hitchhiker guide to the galaxy group which was another essentially Britocentric comedy but I'm amazed how many Mericans there are in both groups. So obviously there's more of you that get the Brits and have a good sense of humour than I would of thought. Even though the title of the episode is "You're No Fun Anymore", imagine how "completely different" the episode would've ended, if Graham Chapman's scientist's assistant had what was coming to her, as of what the first few minutes of the episode were doing before the rest preceeded with the "Science Fiction Sketch", saying "Oh, you're no fun anymore." Then, Chapman would break out of character shouting "She said it!" Then, with the assistant continuously flirting, Eric Idle's camel spotting character and the cast of the sketch all break in and grab and take her out of the studio and she would end up put in the same scenario Terry Jones' pope character was; tied to the railway track.
