When Dricus first made reference of being the “real African champ” he was never bringing race into the situation. Rather he was stating how champs like Izzy, Usman etc abandoned Africa once it became convenient for them in advancing their careers. Dricus has simply stated that he is one of the few African-born ufc fighters who currently still lives, breathes, and trains in Africa. Never did dricus say “I’m blacker than you because I live in Africa.” Izzy is the one who has made this whole thing about race and has done so bc deep down he knows Dricus is right. He was so well known for doing this that fighters started calling him out for instigating as did Dana, because he caused so many fights between fighters over it.
