Seeing a guy get DROPPED to his knees twice in a few moments tells me he was concussed, even just briefly. His ability to open his eyes and seem alert is a testament to his fitness and sheer will. Chael states he sprung up immediately when he hit the canvas, then hit the canvas again and immediately went for a single leg and then the fight was stopped. That's not what I saw. He was knocked down, Colby rolled over, and got back up. The next immediate exchange, Colby was clearly just flailing wildly when Usman then hit him again, sending Colby to the canvas. Usman then jumped on top of Colby, and started side hammer fist as Colby did attempt to for two legs. After the first few hits, and no success with just grabbing usmans thighs, Colby put his hand on the side of his head showing no sign of intelligent defense as Usman continued to hit him with side hammer fist. The Ref then stepped in and declared it a tko.

Uncle Chael, I was listening to Firas Zahabi’s coments on his post fight analysis, and in my humble opinion, he got it right. He says that Kamaru landed severe and effective punches after Colby was already compromised with his broken jaw, so after he gets dropped TWO times, the referee did the right thing stopping the fight, to protect Colby from getting worst injuries. Good stoppage health wise, and that’s why the referee is there right? Love from Rio 🇧🇷

If the shots are illegal what the ref should do is step in and stand them both up. Colby took multiple illegal shots to the back of the head and never really slowed down. There is a reason shots to the back of the head are illegal. The ref stopped the fight when usman got kicked in the hip; so why didnt he stop the fight for a bunch a illegal blows to the head? technically the ref should have stopped the fight due an illegal blow. Exactly. For whatever reason, very few.people have noticed that he turtled. He was hit with 23 hammerfists in a row and could do absolutely nothing in response. Turtling may be good in the wrestling world, but it's a very bad move in MMA if you want to continue fighting. I've seen fights stopped because guys turtled. I'm sure someone with as much experience as Colby and Chael have, too. For whatever reason, a lot of Colby fans don't want to acknowledge that he turtled.

After the second knockdown, when Colby grabbed the double-leg with his face on the mat, the ref let it continue until Colby's right hand let go because of the punches raining down on him. Once he let go of the double-leg, it was over fair and square. Not really much controversy IMO

cian mcgrath thats just one 10-8 round that could be fought back to a 10-9. I had Colby up 3-2 (which I hated). Purely volumetrically. Kamaru hit harder but less; even if colby’s strikes don’t necessarily land as hard they’re still considered significant strikes. Great fight with a horrible ending. I say they should have let Usman just obliterate him.
