Really Ken shemrock,Dan severn both outweighed Royce gracie by a lot and both lost to him.High level wrestling with decent jiu jitsu will beat jiu jitsu but wrestling alone will not.Just watch ben askren vs maia.Only when wrestlers use their wrestling defensively and strike they can beat bjj specialist.I wrestled throughout high school and have been doing bjj for 3 years from my own experience i would say pure bjj beats pure wrestling

@@wrestlar3246 read my comment.Weidman and the other wrestlers beat maia because they used their striking.I said maia only loses whene the wrestler is a good striker.Demain maia is a bjj specialist so obviously a good wrestler with good striking beats him but they don't use their wrestling to beat him.My Argument is pure wrestling vs pure bjj pure bjj wins everytime.Maia vs askren was a perfect example of pure wrestling vs pure striking.Usman also beat maia but usman is a very well rounded fighter who can strike

Today I can sit at a table with every person involved from both sides and have dinner and drink and know that none of us are worrying about anyone else. But kids don't do that anymore... they wanna pull a piece out and spray everywhere...

Also when you were driving through Williamson... you passed an open area that had parking? That used to be the location of the Williamson daily news.... that whole block was one building and it had an awning that ran the length of the block.... on Friday and Saturday nights that's where everyone in the area would park and display and show there cars while we cruised Williamson.... it was awesome.... custom trucks, cars, bikes driving around, everyone was cool, the cops didn't hassle ya that much; and everyone basically got along. The mid and late 90s were a great time to be alive in Williamson.

Hey Chael how’s everything going? Thanks again for your perspective. I love your channel and have been a subscriber for some time now. You have the best, most educated view out there. In the subject you talk about . What about the Japanese fighter, who they called the Gracie killer, I know this is completely different from walking into a gym or dojo, but this guy took them apart in the ring and they put many Gracie’s against him and later on he was beaten by one of the nephews I believe. But if anything it showed that their style obviously isn’t the answer to victory. I’d like to hear your take on this. I’m sure you know of the guy I’m thinking of, sorry I can’t think of his name but I saw this awhile ago. Thanks again Chael really appreciate everything you do. Take care, stay safe and healthy.

These kind of stories happened unfortunately, even in my hometown. But, not everyone is Lindland or Couture or the Gracies, and sometimes it happened that the street brawlers beat the shit out of teachers- especially the ones who taught only traditional styles. Witnessing to this at times was refreshing... and a tremendous life lesson!! Kind of like, never put to much faith into the style and think the style in itself will save you. It's more about your guts, your skills, your toughness, the hardship of your training, and the way you can combine all the different arts and taylor them to your own individual self.

Spent brief time training with Pedro Sauer. Talked about how Gracie system was partially developed like this in the beginning, but it was the Gracies bringing people in....At the time, construction workers would get paid something like $4 a day in Rio. Helio would go to them and offer $6 to fight his boys, and around $10 if they could win the fight (not positive on the amounts).Got the boys experience in real fights instead of just rolling, and helped Helio further develop the style.
