I’m so proud of Sakura for how far she’s come!!! From her beginnings as an idol in HKT48 to being a member of IZ*ONE to now being a Le Sserafim member with much experience she is truly passionate about what she does and I absolutely love and respect her for that!!! 😄❤️👏

Sakura was a titan during her HKT48 tenure. One of the most prominent Japanese idols of her time where most idols would have gladly retired with her record. Izone skyrocketed her stardom and she's still flying with Leserafim. Truly a monster idol and talent.

Honestly, that's overhyping her. She was only popular in HKT. Not outside of it. Think about WHY she even joined PD48 in the first place. A "J-idol titan" making a TON of money and has superstar status isn't going to drop everything and start from scratch in Korea. C'mon, let's be real. We can all be a fan, but let's not be delusional. All the "legendary" 48g members, who were far more popular than Sakura, have all faded away after graduating. Sakura wanted to avoid this. This is literally the reason why she joined PD48. Not because she wanted to "challenge" herself. If she didn't have IZONE, there's a high chance that she would've been a low level celebrity in Japan after graduating like everyone else. Jurina was the #1 ranking member in 48g. Yet, Nako and Hitomi are more relevant than her with the general public, because of IZONE. And you also have it backwards. IZONE brought Sakura more global recognition, but LSF was the group that skyrocketed her career.

@@user-gp1bt4vm3ryep, the difference in Japan & Korea about graduation/ex is so big, and even if you stay as an artist, in any field, the rating you keep being known is like heaven & hell, as Japan entertainment is truly a warfare. I really like it if someone uses the logic & the options in describing any idea 👍

@p1bt4vm3r As someone that followed the AKB groups before PD48, you're incorrect about this. Sakura was mainstream popular in Japan before PD48. She has been the most popular female idol along with Twice's J-line for years and years, even before PD48. She had a ton of endorsement deals and I think she even has her own company that sells makeup or something like that. She was also huge in China. She famously has one of the richest C-bars that used to spend about a million dollars (U.S) on her every birthday until she asked them to donate the money to charity instead. And, still to this day, her C-bar accounts for like 50% of Le Sserafim's album sales because they mass by their own but also negotiate the price directly and distribute them for other other fans who purchase from other countries. You are right that most idols in Japan don't transcend the 'idol popular' barrier. And, especially now, the groups under the AKB umbrella are losing fans and popularity fast. But there was a time when many of the AKB idols did become mainstream popular. In fact, at one point, AKB's original center Maeda Atsuko had 99% recognition in all of Japan. There were many others during AKB's "Golden Generation" as well like Watanabe Mayu, Shinoda Mariko and Oshima Yuko. Then, when those members started graduating, there were less members who achieved that same level of popularity but there were still a few: Sashihara Rino, Matsui Jurina and Sakura. So, yes, Sakura was mainstream popular and making millions and millions of dollars before PD48. A lot of people don't realize this but the actual reason that the AKB members joined PD48 was due to contractual obligations. Some of them didn't even know that they were signed up for the show until they got there. Chiba Erii has talked about this before and explained the whole story. Sakura was making bank as an influencer/actress/idol in Japan already but she decided to make the switch to Kpop after seeing her own growth. Also, what people seem to forget, is that Japan is the 2nd biggest music market in the world after the U.S. So Japanese idols/musicians can way more than 99% of Korean idols by working there if they are popular. The way idols get income is also different as, at least with AKB, the company that made AKB only represents the idols for AKB's music related activities. All of the members have different talent agencies that represent them and get them other jobs, endorsement deals, etc. so they get a way better revenue split than Korean idols in that regard. The one thing that Kpop has over the Jpop and the Japanese market is the global appeal. Japanese idols/musicians make music for the Japanese market because they make so much there that they don't care about being successful elsewhere. But Kpop idols can become globally famous due to their mass appeal and that is worth the switch for a lot of people. I suspect this was also the appeal for Sakura who has said her goal is the billboard awards before.

Other members love to talk about iz*one. The only ones who I never found ever mentioning iz*one is yujin and wonyoung, but yujin is always mentioned to hang out by other members like yena. I think starship forbids them to.

i think her beauty prior to lesserafim was well loved in korea. Tho doesnt exactly suit their beauty standard but it fits in a unique way. The recent change with her nose was to accomodate the image of lesserafim and not of the koreans because koreans prefer her image in izone.@@raemontargaryen3005

I started linking idols back in 2012, so i know sakura pretty much from debut. It hurts to see all the criticism to a person which gave me cheerful moments through the year but this is the path she took and we all respect that. She was pretty much on the top in japan but she decided to take the risk and go to korea and i think she have been doing really well! Go sakura!!
