I love your street interviews 🎤. Different opinions about places from different kinds of people is great. A young single person may love a place that an older or retired person might not care for. Or some people may prefer hiking or swimming while others like markets and city activities going on around them. Personally, I love Chiang Mai.

I've been to Thailand many times and recently went to Phuket to check it out a bit more in depth and really found it to be a very beautiful island. Fantastic for riding around on a motorbike and it had some really nice beaches and beautiful nature. I was particularly impressed by Phuket town. But I didn't like the tourist places and thought they were really built up and without any character you just have to know where to go. But I much prefer the more chilled out smaller Islands.

I have travelled in all countries in SE Asia but I have to say that the Philippines takes the cake for me .The Filipinos are one of the friendliest, if not the friendliest, people in the world. They say that it's only because of English. But I beg to differ. Filipinos just have great personalities, extroverted and always find happiness even on challenging times. One sign of extroversion is when you take a camera and begin recording, most people would just shy away and run away from the camera, or even get mad from being filmed. Filipinos, on the other hand, would even come to the camera and smile. Even without the camera, they'll come to you and happily interact. They really do make you feel welcome, not just as a visitor, but as a family.

There's a lot of people raving about Chiang Mai, but I think they must be talking about being 20 to 30 minutes out of the city itself because the city itself is not so great. I visited several times and was not that impressed. Bangkok has a Wow aspect to it, that Chiang Mai doesn't. During my visits I found Chiang Mai to be rather quiet and very boring at the night time especially. KZbinrs like to go on about the outskirts of Chiang Mai or rather the places a few hours away. But that can also be said about Bangkok and you are much closer to the Islands when you are in Bangkok, than you are in Chiang Mai. I presume the hype about Chiang Mai is mostly to do with what has been spread by digital nomads about it being a rather relaxing place and with plenty of affordable lets. But I can think of plenty of places that match that criteria that I actually think are better.
@Chai_Travel3 ай бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to write this :) I’m sure Chiang Mai is not for everyone. I do have to say that the city has a few very interesting areas and one of them is in Nimmanhaemin (where this was partly filmed). It developed over the last two decades very well and is the “modern Chiang Mai”. I also think it’s a perfect place for digital nomads. Also, if you do not care too much about partying it’s a great place because the nightlife is indeed very mellow. Thanks again for your input
