Ave. Foch is lined with chestnut trees which can give beautiful fall color. Other trees are mixed in the grassy areas like oak and cedar. I even saw a California redwood tree. Most of the street trees in Paris are linden trees. The one you pointed out looks like a linden tree. Place des Vosges and Palais Royal have clipped lindens. A lot of chestnut trees in the Tuileries, Jardin des Champs-Élysées and Jardin du Luxembourg. You've asked about trees a couple of times before. I'm glad you notice them. They can make certain spots in Pairs quite special. If you get a closer more still shot of the tree and leaves like in this video I can usually tell you what type of tree it is.

The Musée du Cinéma - Henri Langlois used to be in that building at #1 Trocadero, there was a fire 1997 and it was later moved to Rue de Bercy. Alfred Hitchcock, when visiting the museum, famously left behind the head of the mother from Psycho for the museum's collection! Imagine finding that while cleaning up! haha! Positive vibrations from once again overcast and chilly Ireland! ☘️☮️🤘🏽🤠👍🏽☮️☘️

The smaller heart-shaped leaves - Lime trees I think (Lindens in US and Deutschland), Tilleuls en français. Bigger trees were Platanes (Planes). Foch with a soft ch (Fosh) - buried near Napoleon under the Dôme des Invalides.

I was interested in the "harbour" outside Paris in the old map in the museum. I checked Google maps and there looks like there is a remnant of that "harbour" which looks like commercial river barge and boat quays. It would by great to take riverboat cruise down the Seine. If there was one available to travel further down the river than just inside Paris.
@Gi11th4 жыл бұрын
Wikipedia told me that this harbour named port de gennevilliers, was only a project in 1908. From 1928 on it was build in a smaller size and got commissioned only after WWII.

HIGHLY recommend the Hotel Elysees Union shown briefly at 13:10 on Rue Hamelin just off of Ave. Kleber. The sign is just beyond the shot of the flowers. Stayed there twice in my visits to Paris. The hotel is small but the staff and accommodations are top notch and affordable.. Thanks for doing these vids Jay! Love them! So cool to see some of the neighborhood my wife and I call “ours.”

Hi Jay. The exhibitions looked interesting. You pointed out the building with the two towers on it, I have an old postcard with the Eiffel Tower and in the distance is that building. The museum on the opposite side is the Maritime museum, which is actually a nice little museum. A few years back, they had a special exhibition on how they managed to transport the obelisk from Egypt all the way to place de la Concorde. That’s quite an asterisk to the whole “it’s a free gift!”, isn’t it? Sure, you get an obelisk, but you pay all shipping costs. 😂 At any rate, it’s a worthwhile museum if you have a spare couple of hours. 😎👍
