Prayer is for *us*, not God. He already knows everything and KNOWS our desires, hurts, pains, etc. Prayer draws *us* up to God and places *us* in *His* realm, not vice versa. Fasting clears our minds and keeps our focus on Him and allows us to better hear His voice when He speaks. Fasting can be one of many different forms; abstaining from food, media, certain pleasures, etc. Fasting puts us in a more vulnerable position and clears our minds of distractions that take our minds and thoughts *away* from Christ, so when we fast AND pray, we are in a better position to be fully armored to fight the enemy and to hear God's voice. Fasting and prayer draws us up to HIS realm and empowers us spiritually.
