In the first of this short series covering our recent trip to the Airborne Museum at the Hartenstein Hotel in Oosterbeek, we look at Table 2, the Northern Perimeter.

I was there on Sunday with a mate and we were able to play on 2 tables. The tables themselves were absolutely stunning! First table i played the Germans and about half way in, Richard came to join me in commanding the Germans, bearing in mind that this was my first game of CoC. Had a really good time with playing the game and had some good conversations with Richard, aswell with the 2 Belgian guys....Jur and Vincent. Later we were able to play the northern perimeter table, this table was, as you can see in this clip, amazing, simply awesome and a delight to play on with miniatures that were also painted quite superbly. This time around i opted to play the para's and what a great game it was. Had a chat with Nick aswell and really impressed by his table. Also had Alan come to help us, because we were noobs mind you so we needed a bit more help at certain points. Action of the day was the destruction of a stugIII with my Piat-team. All in all a great experience to wargame at a historically battleground. Tabletopper (game store) was also present and had a talk with Danny and i ordered a British Para starter army that i can use for both BA and CoC. So, that is how i spent my sunday and it was great!

Simply stunning, I can't even begin to imagine the work involved. You are basically wargaming over a diorama standard set of tables, well done to all of those involved.

The most amazing terrain I have ever seen. Wish I was there to roll dice. Would like to see a future tutorial on how you created the roads.

TFL should produce a small publication just covering those tables. Amazing work.

Excellent comments in regards to playability and practicality pertaining to WARGAMES terrain. Far too often you see beautiful terrain that is simply unplayable as a gaming surface. This looks like the near perfect example of what a table could / should look like. Unfortunately however mere mortals can’t hope to have such terrain for no other reason as “where shall I put it”. 😁
