Chainmaille Tutorial: Stretchy Half Persian 3 in 1

Thank you so very very much. I stumbled on this tutorial about 5 years ago, making a bracelet. It was on my desk for a whole 4 min before my daughter absconded with it, wearing every day. When it finally gave up, she asked for a repair, but it was 5 years old and the rubber rings were full of nicks and cuts... So, I made a different bracelet, it doesn't have the same panache. She will be completely over joyed with this refreshed and stronger remake. I had started out with 20g-22g? really thin, it was given to me. It was not great for bracelets, but really fun to learn with. Didn't need pliers lol. Thank you thank you thank you.

THANK YOU for such a clear and concise tutorial!! I had this weave down perfectly about six months ago, but haven't done it awhile and had to learn it again. I looked at so many tutorials, but yours imo, is the best, hands down! Your fingers never got in the way, the picture never got all blurry, the rings weren't confusing, you didn't keep turning them around and re-orienting the project to make it even more confusing, and the timing is perfect. You didn't explain forever between every step. And there is no music. You are a great teacher, too!❤️🪢💯

I used a small plastic bread clip to hold the first couple weaves together in their proper positions. Then I just moved it up the chain as I closed the links! Easy peasy

I really love the rubber ring idea this is the first times I've seen it. Gives me ideas like making chain-mail that's really tight fit. it would also make chain-mail easier to put on.

You know you can practice a new weave using shower curtain rings. Then work down to smaller rings when you get the hang of it.

I despise starting HP3 I love it after I get ten units in but I have with a passion starting it, and especially if I have to do a project where EI have to do 2 chains that have the opposite lay. Thank you for this Wish I had seen it sooner, I think this will aid when I can't find my cheater starter and have to start fresh again.

I'm teaching myself this right now, and I think what can be very helpful is taking a piece of scrap wire and just putting all your "closed" (aka rubber) rings on it, that way you only have to finagle one row of rings at a time.

Oh My Gosh! I thought I was going to lose my mind trying to get the ends together but I set it down, walked away for a few minutes and came back, watched that part of the vid. again and managed to get it done!! Going to try another right away while it's still fresh in my mind! Thx, I was told by another chainmailler that it wasn't possible to join the ends...Yippe-ky-yeah!!

This is the best tutorial of this bracelet I have seen! Everything clicked but figuring out which rubber ring you attach to the red ring at the end. My eyes just couldn't catch it. I'm going to get some materials and play and I know it will hit me at some point. Thank you!!

this gets me so inspired, ever since I moved outta my parents house I left alot of my craft/jewelry making supplies back at my parents, only bringing little just to have something to do, but, it still feel like o have anything lol but, saving up to get me one of those storage buildings like they sell at lowes, and turn it into my own personal craft/artsy space someday. hopefully.

Ok it has been about 7 hours since I started this Project. I only marred about 5 rings and broke one in half, still looking for the other half, and I have completed this Project. This one is going to take some PRACTICE PRACTICE and a little more PRACTICE to get the hang of it. BTW Today first time ever trying this pattern.

Another great tutorial. I do want to pass on a tip you never mention. When the rings get cut, a small amount of the wire get shaved away, so the ring has a natural gap. To close that gap and get the seamless look, you actually have to push the ends in toward each other while you're twisting them back together. I've watched you do it, but I've never heard you mention it. BTW, I got my order of Back To Earth Creations rings and my Celtic snowflake kit yesterday and FINALLY created a decent-looking snow flake. Thanks for the quality materials and the excellent instructions.

For o'ring they will dry out if the pH is lower than 6. if you want to protect them and it stays beautiful longer just put a lubricant made of silicone and not petroleum 😄🖖❤️❤️

I am a 15 year old and I got interested in chainmail 2 years ago. So far I have made a couple of belts. wrist watch straps and a couple of more things but I never did use rubber rings. And I have a question, what do you prefer working with, aluminium or steel? When I made my belts with aluminium they used to always break in some places but it is easier to work with but I don't always find the right gauge of aluminium that I want so i just buy electrical fence wire, do you know if the ring lord has shipping to Europe?

Heya, Kevin! For most pieces i enjoy working with aluminum because it is so easy to work with, but it is hard to beat the durability and nice weight of stainless steel. I imagine they would, though it might be quite expensive. Its worth looking into, for sure! they ship from Canada so they might have better prices than the United States Postal service does.

I think i need to buy different color rings. Because i can get this starter but then i mess up about 1 1/2" in to it and its driving me crazy. Had to walk away more than a few times. I have gotten many of your other weves down after a few trys or even the first time. But this 3 in 1 is kicking my but for some reason.

I'm having trouble finding UK rings, I'm worked out the 5/16 at 7mm.. (I spent a while, half asleep thing it was 70mm in confusion haha, I'm blaming sleep deprivation for that dumb stint). But they also don't have gauge on many, second i add gauge I'm just getting international sellers. I've found a lot of 1mm by 7mm and wondering if that is a good approximation for what is used here? Thanks! (I looked up the metric version of 16ga and got around 1.29mm, and 18 gauge is 1mm, but oddly I'm struggling to find anything bigger than 1mm, smaller at 0.7mm but no larger...)

Check wiki, mail or maille is an archaic form of the word armor. So chainmail is chainarmour

As I understand it Maille is an old french word for fabric or cloth, so chain "maille" is chain fabric, which when you're weaving makes sense. There are quite a few different historical perspectives and translations, so a through googling should give you a good representation of different views :)
