I've been a machanic all my life but in retirement I had an eight way by-pass an ended up on a ventilator for three weeks and when I woke up I learned how to walk and talk, read and wright again. I'm glad I found you as I was trying to understand why my chainsaw was blowing so much smoke. I didn't know that the lower crankcase chamber was acting like an intake manifold in a two stroke engine. Now I know how chain oil is getting into the combustion chamber. Thank you - count me in as a new fan!

Nobody discusses the pie shaped weight. Nobody discusses the angles involved in that pie shaped weight. Power stroke feeds rotational energy into that pie. As the pie rotates back around is gives its energy to the piston and rods causing the process to repeat. When we start an engine, we supply the rotational energy into that mass with our right arm. Such a novel concept. Excellent, sir.

a long time ago, I did some research trying to learn how a 2 stroke engine works, and all of the explanations and 2D diagrams just didn't make sense to me. This is why I love cutaways so much, and I finally get it. A lot of this remind me of a rotary (wankel) engine.

good description and demo. I'm a boat mechanic, so I'm no stranger to 2 and 4 strokes, but I will say this is new and informative to me. boat motors typically use Reed valves. I had no idea about transfer ports. very cool. as an addition to your vid for anyone interested, 4 stroke is 4 strokes of the piston to 1 complete engine cycle- intake, compression, power, exhaust. 2 stroke is only 2 strokes if the piston for 1 complete engine cycle. the intake and compression stroke happen together and the power and exhaust happen together. lastly, the open exhaust port overlap with the open intake transfer port is called scavenging. the exhaust exiting creates a vacuum which helps draw in the fuel charged intake air. I'm by no means a know it all, just adding some info for anyone interested. great vid. I learned something today! thanks, man!

Very good explanation and simple enough , it's a matter of transference between piston location and direct correlation of the transference of fuel and exhaust ports ! The lower internal case is lubricated by fuel oil premix and it acts as a pressure chamber for fuel oil as it is pressurized on the piston downstroke only to escape through transfer ports to be compressed and burnt on the compression stroke !
