Nice man. I use the CBN wheels on my grinder. I love it no cleaning or shaping. They cut a lot cooler than regular wheels.

I like my little blue guide with metal rollers. I tried several manual guides and freehand. Had a few chains cut in bizarre ways before getting the hang of it. Still learning though. I always go easy on the depth gauges; but some people like to make the chain cut too fast, thinking this helps. Dangerous and harder on the saw. Years ago I brought the depth gauges down with what I thought was a light touch with an angle grinder lol That was dangerous to use.

I wish I had something as soft as locust to cut(1700 lbf janka). All I have is Southern live oak(2680 lbf janka) . Thanks for the tip on angles, I didn't know that a reduced angle makes your chain last longer. I've got one chain at 30 degrees. Heres a stupid chain trick I found after a few beers one night. I have a 3/8 husky roller sharpener guide that I really like. It aggravated me( remember a few beers) that it didn't work on my 325 chain. Well it didn't work with the recommended 4.8mm file but it did work with a 4mm file. And my saw cut faster. I didn't really know why until I watched a few videos on the stihl hexa chain. That is what was happening. The smaller round file puts a steeper angle on the side plate, a round file approximation of a hexa chain. I don't know about the top plate, maybe slicier? Anyway, cuts faster, probably dulls faster.

What no tilt? lol. Me and my buddy spent an afternoon experimenting with his grinder, we ended up using 55 head tilt angle and 25 top plate angle with no tilt, after trying a few different angles. We cut softer woods than you most of the time so the extra hook is nice. 50/10/25 was very good cutting too but it's so close to 55/0/25 we couldnt tell the difference so we stopped using the tilt on the vice.

After the cancer and all the chemo it made my vision a lot worse. Seems like when vision gets bad it all happens in a short period of time

Smitty buddy; you did not have 20/13 vision. That means you could see at 20 feet what the average person sees at 13 feet. Meaning better than average vision. You may have had 13/20 or 20/27 actually(same thing), which isn't terrible; I know because I have 20/200 which is legally blind, but I have good glasses. Have to. I see better than most right in front of my eyes. Handy for tiny things. I haven't had them made as yet, but I discussed making a special pair of glasses with my eye glass doctor. My eyesight is so far off they can not really make a pair of glasses that work well up close so I look over the top all the time or remove them; which is weird because I can see very well up close. Using my normal glasses, like your cheaters, I can only look through the one spot, and back a ways, which means my head must be in the correct place to see what I am doing. I want to get a pair of glasses that only has a focus for a slight adjustment for up close work like welding, or anything small. Main focus at arms length basically. I will ask for a pair that is upside down lol, having a tiny area up top for some distance(inside a room distance), but the majority of the lens being my up close needs. I can see clearly up close without glasses, but am then way too close to be welding safely.

In case anyone wants to know 20/20 is average vision, not perfect.

@@markluxton3402 20/13 is correct. Better than average. Both my sister and I have been like that but as soon as we hit late 40’s everything went downhill fast.

@@Smittyschainsaws Got it. Poorly made glasses can also make your eyes worse. So where do you think you are at now, 20/20, average? ;-) That makes sense that you may want some magnification when fixing things; it is the only advantage to being very near sighted.
