Love this song!!! Had to edit the ending of the song, audio for some reason was muted after I played the video for the last time.. so I had to add the rest of the song in, why the audio is slightly different!

Dang, love your reaction! If you wanna change it up a bit, I recommend Sit Stay Roll Over, Words of Wisdom or Cloud Factory! All are great, but then again, no Jinjer song is not great! From the same EP as Teacher, Teacher you could do Ape, Dreadful Moments or Perennial! Can't go wrong with Jinjer =]

So you’ve seen the ever popular “Pisces” and now the newer “Teacher Teacher”, but how about their earliest stuff from 2014? We should’ve known about them 5 years ago with the song “Outlander”!!! Back then they were a 5 piece band and Tatiana had a different look. One of my FAVORITE songs by them.

Great reaction. Jinjer is the first band in a long time that has grabbed my attention. Been listening to them for a few months now and love watching people discover them as well. I’m going to see them in a small bar in October and can’t wait. Try Perennial next. You won’t be disappointed.

I'm super stoked to see them for the first time this October! I'm a 40 year old, cynical, music snob. I gave up on modern metal years ago, it just bores the Hell out of me. All the bands sound the same. There's no innovation, or, experimentation anymore. Then, I discovered Jinjer. Seriously, this is the first band in 20 years that has grabbed my attention in such a big way. They're all AMAZING players, and, they aren't afraid to sound DIFFERENT. Their progressiveness, and, experimentation, and, the fact that they always seem to be pushing their own limits as musicians. really impressed me. Add to that the fact that Tatiana is such a vocal powerhouse, and, intelligent, poetic lyricist, and, you have something very special, that doesn't come along that often.

Teacher, Teacher does have so many parts to it but it's important to realise that they fit with the lyrics of the song which tells a story. Many of Jinjer's songs have similar complex arrangements and it starts to make sense when delving into the lyrics. They are very deep, clever and often very personal. The can also be somewhat abstract and tangential. Like the instruments the lyrics often have interesting and odd counterpointed rhythmic structures.

The song in the preview was Perennial, off the same album. I would recommend doing it next, it has become my favourite song tied with Cloud Factory. If you appreciate poetry then you would really like the song, the lyrics are very poetic and I won't list them here, but I personally think you will enjoy the song a lot more (in this case) if you study the lyrics before listening to the song. The music video in that song is an actual choreographed video, not just live clips like this one and the video is just as much a part of the song as the lyrics are. There's a few ideas out there on what the song is about, but in an interview Tatiana said that she suffers from seasonal depression and that's what that song is about. She speaks about it metaphorically through the cycle of seasons in nature, she speaks of herself as a flower that dies, or goes into a coma in the winter and then is reborn as a new person in the spring like a perennial. It's a really amazing song and I think that the music video is a lot better when you understand what the song is about. It also makes good use of visual, auditory and lyrical juxtaposition, much like Pisces, although it is an altogether different song.

Everything on Micro represents the epitome of their writing, composition, and performances. But the 3 albums before it are also all epic in their own ways. They just literally don't have bad songs to date. The song you heard a bit of is Perennial, another great song off the Micro EP. You have two choices for video which are both awesome. The studio video is beautiful. But they also just released a live performance video of Perennial from Wacken which is epic.

Usually, the next pick of reactors after Pisces or Who's Gonna Be The One, is I Speak Astronomy. It is actually Tatiana's other favorite song along side Pisces believe it or not. ... It has an official video and it is a serious work of CG art! And as usual, it is again TOTALLY different in feel, yet has that progressive stamp of personality you are getting to know from them. You are in for a real treat in the second half of it... But that's all I'm saying...

Try to get hold of “Scissors” one of their earlier videos, as well as Perennial ( (not the video, per se) as they just dropped a live concert version called “Perennial” ( Live at Wacken 2019). The lyrics have 2 main factors. Prejudice and fosterers of prejudice in all walks of life. As stated by Tatiana, Teacher Teacher is not about literal teachers, it is about anyone with status putting themselves forward as a teacher / preacher and speaking with unwarranted authority about subjects they have none for, using their power and status to silence others and command the attention of people. These people will often attack whomever doesn't agree with them and use their status and power to hurt those that do not agree with them. The prejudice part is in the first line of the chorus "the prejudice let us down", but it starts at the start of the song. It starts with building a picture of a Catholic school scene many people can imagine, to then go into "but it was all an illusion". The Catholic school part is an allegory for these teachers/preachers. Signifying you shouldn't take things at face value. Most people take little else away from this song but it being about something that happened in a Catholic school, because they don't listen closely and ... Their prejudice let us down.

For those suggesting "Perennial," I would wholeheartedly say official video first. I'd say the same about "I Speak Astronomy." If you decide on live versions of those *later* after seeing the official videos, sure. Not that I'd say the live versions are bad or anything, but the official videos themselves are quite beautiful, and more than just stripped down band performances. I'd say they really fit the themes of both songs really well, and do things visually that would be hard to reproduce live in terms of the aesthetics. And in the case of "I Speak Astronomy," without spoiling too much, the studio audio of certain early sections has a certain effect that contrasts with her normal vocals, versus live where such sections might feel more rushed as a result. Only thing I'd caution is watch out for that false end. XD I've seen live videos where people didn't know it was coming and the applause starts too soon, also a dead giveaway for anyone who hasn't heard it before. Last thing, seeing "Teacher, Teacher" after "Who Is Gonna Be The One" basically is advised because otherwise it would have been back to back official videos and maybe some lingering doubts they all really can perform at those levels in concert. "Pisces" has that bit of post mixing as mentioned in the description, whereas "Who Is Gonna Be The One" live is pure concert footage, and "Teacher, Teacher" is concert footage and studio audio.

He has some sweet playthroughs on their official YT channel, including Teacher Teacher =) Jinjer is pretty proggy, so they have a ton of time changes etc in their song.
