I thought that they were great in their own ways but I can't lie, I always wonder how Josh Holloway's Gambit would've been in X-Men: The Last Stand, I think he would've been a great Gambit as well. IKR!? 😮‍💨 Imo Deadpool movies have always been absolutely freaking amazing at having you laugh hysterically only to have you all teary eyed a second later ffs! It’s a rarity in that capability imo for sure! 😅👍😉 But this one somehow managed to audiences of all sorts…right in the feels! But for completely different reasons at times, I mean I was in the theater and close by I had people who were apparently (as I later learned) spanned from knowing basically EVERYTHING like me…to knowing absolutely NOTHING(not even joking either) Now…while unfathomable to me that one would go into a movie that’s a part of something as massive as not just the MCU but X-men and Fantastic 4(tho that wasn’t obvious going in really😉) without knowing anything…like WTF!? How!? Why!? Idk but I’ll move on for sake of keeping this comment slightly less ridiculously long 🤦‍♀️ Anyways…yea, some were roughly in the middle of the prior knowledge spectrum aswell, so it was a bit of a mixed bag really. But as I was saying…there wasn’t a single person anywhere even remotely close to me that wasn’t (at one time or another) either laughing so hard that it was obviously hard to catch their breath🤣😮‍💨 or were crying, not just sniffling my dudes…no, we’re talking about the “ugly crying” y’all! 😩😭 And EVERYTHING in between was going on, myself included obviously!😉👍I was a freaking mess guys! So…yea, as I was talking about, even tho the Deadpool movies are advertised (as the one guy was saying that he was expecting awesome funny action and not much more) they are imo some of the more heartfelt/ deeply affecting comic book/action movies out there ffs! This one in particular got me sooo good and many times aswell honestly! Whether it’s relationship, friendship, self reflection/reflective etc. or if it’s the more “Fan service ish”, callbacks, comic reference based, prior unmade movie/show/comic obscure references or even just the sometimes somewhat subtle musical themes and other seemingly random yet sincerely used references made all throughout the entire freaking movie that I’m sure had the people like me, in a state of near constant and at certain times somewhat overwhelmed by all the references that were imo, ever so carefully and lovingly placed throughout the entire damn movie…were so awesome and very much appreciated….I mean like you said, it was an insanely well done love letter really! Just to let you guys know, after watching X - Men 97 and now watching the original X - Men animated series, y'all should know the kind of character that Gambit is and his accent. Gambit has a Cajun accent, and Channing Tatum was born in Alabama, and he has roots in Mississippi and Louisiana, so he fits the role perfectly. Also, they were supposed to make a solo Gambit movie anyway, but it never happened, and channing wanted to play Gambit for a long time, so he finally got his chance. Yeah, it did become a meme for a little while when people heard his accent, but over time, people started to like it more. Y'all didn't have to down him like that because of his accent though lol.

Gotta say, as much as y'all appreciate Ryan's passion for playing Deadpool, that's exactly how Channing has felt about Gambit for pretty much his whole life, and even though Deadpool & Wolverine takes every opportunity to joke about how his dream never came true, it also made his dream come true. He may be played for laughs because this version of the character has never left the Void and gotten a chance to be a hero, but this was Ryan Reynolds reaching out to Channing Tatum like 'Hey, my superhero passion project survived development hell, and my dream came true...let's use this opportunity to make yours come true, even if it's only for one glorious moment.' That's why it was so important to go all in on getting the costume dead accurate, and the full blown Cajun accent. If this ends up being his only chance to play this character that he feels so strongly about, then it had to be the real deal Gambit. He had to be recognizable the moment he walked into the room, and he had to be true to Remy's Cajun roots. And he was. All jokes aside, that's Gambit up there on the screen. For the first time. Taylor Kitsch's 'Gambit' may not have been the out and out travesty that the same movie's 'Deadpool' was, but he looks and sounds nothing like Gambit.

Gambit walking into the room will always make me laugh. As a fan, I knew Channing has wanted to be Gambit for awhile with no success. As a guy, I had no idea who the actor was playing Gambit when he walked in. My GF and every single girl on the planet however has screamed the microsecond they see his face. I however nodded with a smile and respect when I heard it was him and knowing how much he really wanted the part. This is my favorite movie of not just the year, but for awhile. It was a true work of passion for Ryan and those involved to make a film for him and the fans that will always be remembered, and that's why the formula worked so well. Recent Marvel releases have had a different path and tried to guilt force you into liking their movies. Ryan just poured his soul into it and remained dedicated and the fans, some of us for many...many, so many decades flocked to it with no duress required. Cheers.

The end was really well written. Matter and anti-matter. Logan mattered too much and he buckled under the pressure. Wade didn't matter at all and his life was empty because of it. For years, they tried to get a Gambit movie made with Channing Tatum to star in it, which is part of what makes his appearance here so much fun. His accent is pretty spot on as I have some friends from the most southern portions of Louisiana and he sounds just like them. Many with cajun accents are fast speakers with clipped vowels and incorporate French coupled with a bit of southern accents all mixed in.
