How is jab tak hai jaan dear zindagi raees etc are over the top. Srk has always done all kinds of films.. he did mai hoon na(over the top masala) veer zaara(classic romantic drama) and swades( character driven drama) all three in same year. He also did FAN(psycological thriller) Dear zindagi(slice of life film) and raees( crime drama) all in 1 year. Its just that then all his films worked and now they didnt work well. Doesnt change the fact that his process is still the same just results change which are sometimes beyond anyones controls.

Actually this movie was based on the legendary Goal keeper Mir Ranjan Negi. Unfortunately India loose to Pakistan in 1982 Asian Games and he was blamed for take money for conceiving Gold. His life became hell and he went out of game. But he returned with a big bang when under his coaching Indian Women Team Won the gold medal in Common wealth Games in 2002.

I remember I was in 7th standard when this movie was released and our school being all girls school did special screening for this film. The message was great. Now our national women's hockey team is doing good and we can see the differences in opinions. Nowadays both the teams are equally supported. Our girls did good at Tokyo Olympics, they have good records at Commonwealth as well.

Everyone remembers the Sattar minute dialogue (happening in the next part) but I personally prefer the 'Saat Saal baad' scene. That and the scene at last when with teary eyed he sees the flag fluttering with pride..... Both scenes are so well acted. 💖

I remember no one even gave a damn about this movie before its release and after it got released it absolutely took the whole of Indian by storm. One of the best movie made on sports in India. When Kabir was appointed as the coach, he & his friend Uttam Singh talks about when the girls are coming. In that scene you can see 'India Gate' one of the major national monument & a symbol of India's Unity in their background, perfectly placed in between both of them but 'quite far from them'. This foreshadows that the team needed to be united by Kabir. And When they get along, after the intermission Chak De India track hits & it starts with a 'close up' of India Gate following the team practicing in unison. That they achieved Unity & are ready to face any challenge head on. Love this subtle visual representation in the film. 🇮🇳🙌
