I love the Mica powder (Pearl Ex) on black. I have lots of (never used) Pearl Ex powders.They were just so pretty I could not get rid of them when I started KonMari-ing. I have a use for them now. Love your videos, Lindsay.

Thank you so much for letting me know these chalks are pretty interchangeable for card making. I have 5 different type chalks, but because they were sold/bought for totally different styles/things they do...ramble point, I may have too many chalks! Very cool techniques that I NEVER even gave a thought about! I love the look of Pearlex on dark paper and Versamark ink! So Pretty! Although the most helpful technique was the diy stamp refresher(glycerin)/refiller for that watercolor type nib pen thingy! Oh my...now I got to go back in the video to find out what that pen thing you used to fill in small spaces..ex:birds..with to purchase! Great idea on the chalks for ceramics. My aunt just gave me a bunch of ceramic chalk I had no idea what to do with...thanks for saving them from the stash abyss, LOL! Also, I’m going though all my old makeup (bathroom redo!) and I found some doozies! Pastel blues and purples from the ‘80’s that will work perfect for this technique! I always thought of purchasing the palette of pastels, but now after seeing how they are used I know that I would not be using them enough to purchase...thanks for the insight! All in All...thanks for all the tips for repurposing old items, saving others from the abyss of stash, and giving me great new ideas to work with! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS!!!!!!

Lindsay, I haven't had much luck with pastels but have picked up a small set of pastel pencils to try. I really found the part about the variety of daubers especially helpful! I would love to see more ”hack” videos focusing on how to use one type of media at a time- I’m starting to get a bit confused about how to make the most of each.

I have perfect pearls, and eye shadow. I have not done much creating for several days. I am grabbing black card stock, and I am going to play with perfect pearls. I have no idea what else I will play with. I am watching videos today because I need to do 12 birthday cards by Wednesday. I have plenty of backgrounds but no sentiments or focal images on the cards. Thank you for the creative push! 1 card is done. I also opened up a 4 pack of perfect pearls for the first time! I had fun!

Need to try these techniques. I've got a set of the Faber-Castel half sticks that I bought, then I inherited my Mom's stash. She had Grumbacher soft half sticks (from high school), Nu-Pastels (by Eberhard-Faber not Prismacolor, so old), and a set of pastel pencils by Conte. Nice to know I can use them together. Mom always said you couldn't mix brands. You've also shown me ways that the varying degrees of softness can work for me. I wouldn't have thought to make cards though. Yes, had I known what my Mom had stashed, there's many things I wouldn't have bought. I knew her as a painter, of oils then acrylics.

you can mix brands, the only ones that won't work together would be oil based ones with the chalk/soft pastels

Hi Lindsay! I am watching this video again, it never gets old. I don't remember seeing the blender pen being used or your spray with glycerin so I am looking forward to trying the techniques you used with those. I really like how you worked the pastel with the blender pen/brush. My favorite thing about coloring with pastels is that they are so forgiving.. I have used all of your tips here with great results. Thanks so much. A great refresher for me. New to me was using the Tombow blender pen. I have a few here that I don't use often. (My preferred blending method with Tombow markers is to use a waterbrush pen or watercolor brush and water.

don't be surprised if you need to add a bit of water+glycern to the clear tombow if you've had it a while. The chalks can suck up the liquid but the refills are cheap to make!

Love love love the tip about glycerin. I like to emboss my own art work instead of using stamps. But I use my embossing ink markers sparingly since I have to order them online. Now I can go buy some glycerin and find a mixture that works for my art. Thanks for the tip!!! And I will be sure to share it on my channel!

I can;t afford the versamark so I have been a little depressed that I couldn't do any embossing on my cards, but I do have some glycerin and I learned from this video that I can use that like versamark so I am going to try it. I have the glycerin, cosmetic sponges and a little bit of embossing powder, not as much as I would like, but I may be able to get a few sentiments for my cards. I also have a heat gun that my husband bought me from Harbor Freight. This gun can strip paint so I am so thrilled that I can now heat emboss and also use some of my old eyeshadows with the glycerin to make backgrounds with too!!!

have fun and be careful with that heat gun, use the low setting and keep it back from the paper. It gets way hotter than a craft heat gun:)

Yeah I always do. I just like the idea that I can do other things with it besides paper crafts. And if I needed to melt up something really good I can lol. I also know that 1500 watts is overkill for what I normally do, but it was cheaper than the craft guns.
