Great video, love the concept you've done for Isaac. He has been my most requested character since Brawl. Even though his own franchise or rather Camelot have done nothing with him since Dark Dawn 8 years ago, he was a BIG contender during the Smash Ballot as one of the top picks for becoming a fighter in Smash 4 (not sure but he was either ranked 3rd or 5th, somewhere in the Top 10). Though he lost outright to Bayonetta, I still say that by the Smash Ballot alone and how well he went that his potential to become an official fighter is likely. Not only that but your concept for his moveset works really well, similar to how I always speculated his potential moveset. I agree that crit hits and Djinn would be too overpowered and just keeping it to his swordplay and psynergy works best along with his final smash as Judgement. Here's to hoping he gets another shot and this time makes it in. Not a simple assist trophy or just a battle mashup theme like he had in the past. I always figure if he got a stage that it should be either: -Vale (his original hometown and where you start in the first game). -Mt. Aleph (due to it being a central part of the story). -Venus Lighthouse (due to this being the lighthouse based on his own element). Not only that but with his stage you could easily incorporate different Djinn to do varying effects to the battlefield. Example: Earth Djinn could smash the ground, Fire Djinn could set an area of the ground on fire, Wind Djinn whisk up tornadoes or lightning to wreak havoc and Water Djinn freeze the terrain or fighters on the stage. Similar to what the summons on Clouds FF7 stage do.

Actually, long-swords are heavier than one handed swords. They require less strength to wield since they are held with both hands. Fun fact: Swords in general are designed to be easy to swing and rely on precision rather than heavy hits. In fact bows (for combat rather than hunting) require more physical strength to wield; unlike how most RPGs run them mechanically. (not that hitting hard inst necessary to use a sword)

Why do you think consistency isn't a factor for retro characters to get in? Do you think the same should apply to miscellaneous characters?
@Delzethin7 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you mean by "consistency". A lot of people get caught up on how many games a character has been in, but that isn't what to look for most of the time, especially for characters from series with rotating casts like Pokémon or Fire Emblem. Relevance _does_ matter for them, but retro characters are a little different. Since they inherently lack relevance, they seem to be chosen based on how iconic they are and what legacy they have instead...along with other things like unique abilities and moveset potential that apply to everyone. I don't know what you mean by "miscellaneous" characters. Can you clarify?
@BigBossMan5387 жыл бұрын
I mean characters like Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, and Olimar. Characters that are recent but not as famous as Mario or Kirby.
@samanbouniady6 жыл бұрын
For the Final Smash, you do a dual Final Smash like Ryu. No input would result in Judjment, and A forward input would be Megiddo, and make for an Offstage recovery with items on, and the balance would be that he's so sky-high that when Megiddo hits, that he has to fast-fall in helpless state making ro get back to stage. Along with the fiery aura from the smash ball, and the amber orbs of venus energy that it replicates the effect in Golden Sun: TLA/DD and the targeting for Megiddo would be the same as Judjment but with a slight flaw changes being him helplessly falling, and the fact the explosion from Megiddo is a near insta-kill like Roy, Marth, and Lucina's Final smash, but act Lucario's, Mewtwo and Lucas/Ness' final smash.

Isaac's Up-B has to be Growth, surely? The move that is used in the game to travel upwards, and it's super iconic Venus psyenergy; make it a big hit box that turns into a ladder if it hits solid ground (with it having a lower hitbox so you can create a ladder from on the stage); honestly thought this was the reason they made the ladder attacks in Ultimate during the speculation period. Why would the move that allows Isaac to travel up be the Down-B? It just makes no sense.

heres my isaac moveset concept (i combined his ssf2 specials and other moves and for his final smash i went with a move not many people consider as a final smash idea): Isaac stands his ground! Character: Isaac Universe: Golden Sun Company: Camelot Software Planning and Nintendo First Appearance: Golden Sun (Game Boy Advanced) Moveset: Like in ssf2, I want his moveset to have melee, Psynergy and element attacks. *Neutral Special: Move* - Isaac summons a large Psynergy hand that acts like how it did when he was an assist trophy in Brawl. The only difference being that you can perform a follow up attack by pushing up, down or the opposite direction of where you're facing. This can be held for as long as he wants until the special button is let go or the hand goes off-screen, but leaves Isaac wide open when in use. *Side Special: Vine* - Isaac will throw his arms out, releasing 2 long reaching vines forward. Like in Ssf2, anyone who gets hit with this move will become ensnared in vines, unable to move out of place. You can esacpe by mashing the directional pad, but higher percents make it harder to escape from. *Up Special: Retreat* - A rare technique learnable by only the 3 main members of Golden Sun. Isaac will slowly engulf him self in magic and teleport to a chosen direction, creating a small magic burst at the end for little damage. Unlike most teleporting moves, there is a clear indicator on where Isaac can pop up, so enemies can easy counter attack it when he appears. The start up is also slow. *Down Special: Spire* - A small orb will appear above Isaac and it begins to rise up as its charged. At max charge or when the special button is released, a large rock will fall out an angle, cause moderate damage for anyone hit by it. This move has alot of start up lag. *Final Smash: Grand Gaia* - When activated, Isaac will raise he sword and the ground in front of him will open up, trapping anyone caught by the opening ground. Isaac will then raise his hand as he summons Venus energy from the ground and rain rocks down onto who ever is in the move. This move finishes off with an explosion, launching everyone who was caught away. *Stage: Venus Lighthouse* Boxing ring alias: The Venus Adept Bio: Isaac was born in the secluded town of Vale at the base of the dormant volcano Mt. Aleph, and for his first fourteen years he lived a tranquil life there with his parents Kyle and Dora and his friends Garet, Jenna, and Felix. Like his parents, Isaac is a Venus Adept, and all the townspeople of Vale are Adepts to varying degrees because they live their lives under the influence of a giant Psynergy Stone formation near the town's entrance. Isaac was very reliable and was well-liked by the populace; as an individual, he is virtuous and caring yet not to a fault, and Dora describes him as being so much like his father at his age, including his stubbornness. Isaac used to visit the cottage of the scholar Kraden a lot before the elderly alchemist was kidnapped during Saturos' second raid on Sol Sanctum. Kraden acted as a teacher for Isaac, Garet, and Jenna. Having lived at Vale his entire life, at a mountainous area not close enough to the Great Western Sea, Isaac had never seen an ocean before prior to his quest in Golden Sun, like his friends at that point.

I could talk for hours about my favourite character's potential in smash. Most of what youve outlined here is perfect. Given how varied psynergy is you could seriously argue about isaac's potential move set in abyssal depth. For instance, i think sand would be a good contender for a recovery move. Climbing upwards in a whisk of sand would be awesome, and is probably a bit less visually jarring than retreat, but then retreat is such a must have. You could use either psynergy for their dodge animations, to be fair. Ive also always felt that ragnarok should be one of Isaac's Special moves, as its probably his most iconic attack, that could be charged up into odyssey. Id probably make spire the down smash, as a sort of wierd dropped-projectile attack, and put ragnarok on the side special. Thats not even to touch on using djinn as an actual battle mechanic. Given Ultimate is using a lot of HUD elements (look at Cloud's Limit meter, for one), it would be easy to keep track of how many djinn isaac has ready to use. Summons could work like assist trophies as mini-final smashes, and then we could make isaac's actual final smash Meggido. This is the reason why Isaac is such a sleeper character. He has so much to bring to the smash table that its not even funny. Not to mention awesome stages (Imagine Sol Sanctum, one of the lighthouses, or Anemos sanctum), beautiful music to fight to, and awesome potential Assist trophies (Id love to see Toadonpa, just as a joke appearance). I dont want to get my hopes up, because being a golden sun fan is always bitter. But if hes ever announced again... well, ill certainly be weeping with joy.

Interesting moveset. However, I have seen several ideas for him. One goes all-in on the Djinn mechanic, making down special let you set a different Djinn, changing his class. While simplified from Golden Sun, it would still change his specials, but not his attacks or stats. I'm glad we had the same idea of having basically all of the field only moves as grab commands, however. I would not make Move his neutral special, however, but rather make that his back throw, actually, making it deal little damage and knockback, but making a hand that pushes enemies away a short distance, perfect for defense, especially when there's multiple enemies. I also wouldn't put his Psynergy techniques to his smash attacks, but rather make them some of the early game howls, like Rapid Smash. I also see him more using the Gaia Blade rather than the Sol Blade as his main weapon, but either works, really. Now, as for specials, he would have earth, fire, wind, and water sets that he could cycle between, 3 for each. For Earth, using Retreat as a recovery i didn't think of. However, I would make Growth his neutral special, and leaving it widely unchanged; it can be destroyed, but Isaac can re-activate it to cast Brier on the location. And instead of Spire falling from above for his forward special, instead make it Quake, with the ability to charge it before releasing to increase how far it reaches and how high the ground pieces would go. Fire would have Planet Diver be the recovery, acting like Fox and Falco's recovery, but with no chance to multi-hit, instead dealing one significant strike, with increased range, and significantly higher fall speed after finishing it. Neutral special would be Blast, and it'd effectively be the same as Zelda's Din's Fire. And as for forward special, Dragon Cloud from the Samurai series would do, sending a dragon from above Isaac to move in the faced direction, curving downwards slowly, exploding on the first enemy it hits. while it moves fairly slowly compared to some projectiles, it'll be able to eat small shots like blaster fire, or clash with big shots, such as Samus' Charge Shot, negating both. In addition, while there will be some end lag on the move, Isaac will be able to move once Dragon Cloud reaches approximately the halfway point in its range. Since Wind is Isaac's least effective element normally, he's going to be making use of the powerful Ninja class to make up for that. In this form, Isaac's up special would become Death Plunge, a very powerful move not dissimilar to Ike's Aether or Kirby's Final Cutter. The big difference, though, would be it can only hit one person, and it counts as a command grab, dealing massive damage once they hit the ground. For a neutral special, Mist would place a small field for a short time that would tear apart shields, or, if they were standing there when Mist was placed, it would act like Mewtwo's Confuse Ray. Unlike Confuse Ray, however, this would be radial around Isaac, but wouldn't last as long as Confuse Ray. For a side special, Shuriken, would simply throw a spread of three shuriken forward, dealling fairly low damage, but reasonably high knockback. Like all psynergy, Shuriken would have a start up and end lag befitting its position to keep the user from spamming it. Lastly, Water. In this form, Isaac's recovery would become very strange, using Frost to make a temporary platform under his feet. He can only have one of these platforms at a time, and cannot make another one until the previous one disappears. For a neutral special, the always mediocre Froth would create bubbles to the left and right of the user which would pop on contact. Rather than doing any damage, however, they instead act as one-hit bumpers, throwing high-percentage enemies flying away. As for forward special, the always fantastic ability of Cutting Edge, the signature ability of Swordsman and Dragoon classes, would send a crescent of Mercury energy in the target direction, dealing solid damage. This would be a mid-range projectile, but because of its fast movement, and large vertical height, it would be rather difficult to dodge; at the penalty of having low knockback. Now, for the final smash. The summon is, of course, the most obvious, but I would like to offer up an alternative. Gaia Blade's Howl, casting, well, Gaia Blade, a massive and terrifyingly powerful version of Ragnarok that would strike the stage a set distance in front of him and cause massive, and i mean MASSIVE, damage. However, because this is an earth-based move, it would be limited in that it can't be activated while in the air. In addition, if they make everyone have two final smashes like they did for Ryu, using the same criteria, the summon could be the wide-field final smash, while Gaia Blade, or, I suppose, the Sol Blade equivalent, would activate at close range, dealing a few sword swipes before the blade howls, releasing its true power. Sorry this went on for so long, I had a lot I wanted to get to. Hope it's an interesting read for anyone who bothers, though i know a lot of the comments on this, if any, would be "it's too complicated, they'd never do it, Sakurai doesn't want multiple movesets on one character." And you'd be right, honestly. But, in my opinion, this is the best way to encapsulate ALL of the series in a single character.

The longsword is a good idea, although I think Ike uses Ragnell as a longsword, but yeah, it would be unique as well. But overall, I liked your moveset idea, specially the way you propose the special ones... maybe Spire could work as an "arching rock missile", like a combination between Samus missile + Link's arrows, but with a low altitude and downward arrow arch, instead of an "appearing rock" like the explosive ending of Din's Fire, but your idea works well too. Keep the good work! I Missed your content.
@Delzethin7 жыл бұрын
The idea behind Spire was to make it an anti-walling tool, basically. By having the hitbox on it not appear until you want it to, you can slip it past rapid fire projectile zoning or strong stage control, giving Isaac an answer to such things. Having him just fling it forward like Link's arrows wouldn't allow it to perform that role. Plus, Spire's animations in the games always have the rock formations come down from above, so I wanted to keep that if it was at all possible.

I like your idea on the grab and throws. I would've used the Djinns for his neutral special like Prof Squeaky did, but not as overpowered. I could've changed the fall speed to be just like mega man's and he would use the sword that he used in his assist trophy in brawl. his side would be move. other than that, I think you did a great job.
@Delzethin7 жыл бұрын
Actually, this Isaac concept's fall speed (1.75) is already very close to Mega Man's (1.8). And the sword in his Assist summon is a weird case: he never actually unsheathes it, and most of Golden Sun's weapons--including the Sol Blade--didn't have unique designs show up ingame until Dark Dawn!

I feel like Isaac needs a gimmick to properly reflect the unique style of combat that Golden Sun offers. What's a GS rep with no Djinn? Too generic. Any character can have a good moveset, but all the new characters have gimmicks. He would never get in without one.

@cajbajthewhite48897 жыл бұрын
Delzethin I get that, but Villager, Wii Fit, Greninja, Bowser Jr. and Corrin don't have anything that would make cool or fitting gimmicks. Isaac does, but a good gimmick for him is a bit too similar to Cloud.
@Delzethin7 жыл бұрын
They could've done something like let Villager dig up items at random, or have Corrin use Dragon Veins somehow, but they chose not to. Remember, sometimes it's about knowing when to reel yourself in and _not_ use a gimmick that might make a character's moveset too unwieldy.
@cajbajthewhite48897 жыл бұрын
Delzethin But those gimmicks aren't a central mechanic. Also, you know Corrin just got in for marketing reasons. Golden Sun isn't a Dragon Quest clone, its manipulation of stats, special moves, and summons via Djinn is a VERY central mechanic. The heart of its combat. Don't get me wrong, I'd sacrifice half the newcomers to get Isaac in in any form at all, but he's such a perfect candidate it would be a real missed opportunity not to give him a gimmick.

Hey, I would you like to do a collaboration moveset? I don't need any shoutouts or anything, just the satisfaction of being a part in creating something is enough for me. I made a moveset for Zoroark based on her appearance in the B/W event and movie and a move set for Dunban from Xenoblade for fun a while back and it turned out pretty solid, I believe having someone to help is positive for anybody as it gives more motivation, less time used, and more quality in with the final results but in the end it is your decision. Keep up the good work, but if it cuts into your life then you should take a break, forcing yourself isn't fun for you or the viewers. Good luck with your channel growth!

@Delzethin6 жыл бұрын
Based on just what now? How well a character fares competitively comes down to smaller details like frame data, knockback values, hitbox placement, and how well their overall moveset synergizes together. You basically _can't_ tell what tier they'd be in when they aren't even in a game yet!
@vyskmk6 жыл бұрын
Well, from the description provided in the video, it is highly likely that his moves would be rather laggy, not unlike Ike, and I do believe the description you provided represents accurately how Nintendo would most likely handle the character. But with slow movements and most likely laggy attacks, it is highly improbable that Isaac would be very high on the tier list.
@Delzethin6 жыл бұрын
If you believe all that determines how viable a character is are how fast they move and how lagless their attacks are, then you still have a lot to learn. And you realize those stats would give Isaac above average mobility for the most part, right?

Very late response, but not at all. As someone who loves both DQ and Golden Sun (and who had a DQ rep and Isaac as their #1 and #2 most wanted, respectively), Isaac's got a ton that could differentiate him. Plant/Earth-based spells, along with other types of psynergy would end up making him very different from Hero.
