We have been chisel plowing and running our 35 foot Salford vertical tillage tool here in southern Michigan. The weather and soil conditions are perfect. We have light frosts overnight but by noon we can start tillage. We have been working mostly on corn stalks and new land that we picked up over winter . We really are only 3 weeks away from planting weather permitting maybe 4 before the planters are going full speed . But tillage and fertilization are going decent for now . I'm really happy to be going on some tillage and tractor time . We will be farming the most acres we ever have at 8000 this year so the early start is nice . Keep up the good work and stay safe!

I was just gonna say. Lol. We pull a 30’ Great Plains with a 9330 and it’s no sweat. I doubt that Challenger even feels that 35’.
@bigtractorpower3 жыл бұрын
They use a pair of these tractors for NH3 application and primary tillage. The 35ft does a nice job where as you add wings to go wider the outside parts are not quite as level as the inside. This farm had their 8R370 just on the other side of the field with a 24 row 1775NT. The IVT sure makes for a nice ride on the 8Rs.

@kevinfox50683 жыл бұрын
Great video, I love seeing all that power, I much prefer tracks to wheels, I believe you get much better pulling power with tracks ,huge amount of traction plus if the tractor is field weighted to maximum the total weight needs to be evenly distributed reducing compaction , the only down side is tracks are more expensive to maintain. All the very best to you, stay safe. Regards Kevin Fox,England Essex.

I gotta say I think the corn/bean farmers must make out pretty good to be able to afford half million dollar tractors. Don’t get me wrong I’m absolutely happy for them. I think it’s awesome. But after buying equipment, maintenance,fuel,oils,def, fertilizers, seed, insurance, taxes and hired help and that’s just the tip of the ice burg. Managing money is definitely got to be as big a job as the farming itself!!!!!
@bigtractorpower3 жыл бұрын
Well this area is a little different because the climate allows for double cropping. Wheat follows corn and is harvested in early June. Soybeans are no tilled in right behind the combines as the wheat is harvested and the second crop of soybeans is harvested in mid October. Having half a farms land produce two crops in a year is good for the bottom line and requires big machines to keep the cropping on schedule.
