I wanted to thank you for sharing this. I installed the same tube on my '19 R/T Shaker and I've been showing it to people in my car groups and telling them about your channel and giving 100% of the credit for the idea to you. Before installing this hose and the MoPar headlight intake tube I put in the headlight grilles from Merrick Motorsports. This step has helped keep out bugs and leaves and even rocks from going into the intake or down the passenger side tube. I routed the hose on mine differently than you did. I ran it in front of the radiator and then straight down because I didn't want to take the chance of any water or more specifically dust and dirt from blowing in and onto the alternator or belts and getting into the engine bay. I live in the desert so dust is more of a threat than rain, but I try hard not to drive my car in the rain anyways. I take my truck instead. Thanks again for posting this! C. Ward N. Las Vegas, NV

You’re making me spend money again! Lol this was a great mod. I just installed one today thanks to you and it looks pretty clean. That spectre tube is pretty strong and very flexible, plus it holds itself in pretty good. I ordered a coupler to clamp it down better. I ran my tube down the passenger side, not over to the right like you did. For some reason I was considering the alternator but it hardly rains and if need be you can reroute it how you like. I’m sure it’ll help with cooling a bit. I just wanted the look of both lights without getting a bunch of grim in the engine bay.

Honestly the only way I would buy something like this is for it to have a purpose. While driving your vehicle it receives enough air though the grill. Even the hellcats have that extra hole but it’s capped for a reason while the other inlet hole is the intake so if they don’t need it on a blower app why add it to a shaker scat na. Dodge does there homework. Now the only reason I would do this is if the holes routed to the air box like a double ram air otherwise it provides no benefit and actually is just another thing to clean with extra money spent and no functionality. No hate just being real here with everybody and if you like it then great no harm just calling it how it is.

Got me some aftermarket projector lights for my Challenger that we will be installing next week, so I wanted to see what ya guys are doing for this issue. She is a 2010 SRT8 and the new lights are just like the 2015+ model years, so they will have the updated look as well as the air intake ports. Plus they have halos, so l don't have to get any of those now and can't wait to get them on her. the driver side is direct to the airbox, the passenger side is not worth it, by the time you down size the pipe and route it across the hot engine bay, it's pushing low pressure warm air. I took the Passenger inlet and pushed it to the front of the engine to pass cool air.

@@WorkPlayDrive thanks for the clarification, I like the lit up air inlets that they have on the Merrick motorsports site, but I would need to grab a separate hellcat intake from back of headlamp to air box then do something like the 3"pipe (spector) pipe away from engine to keep ther dirt and shit off. @WorkPlayDrive4 жыл бұрын
No this was only necessary for the 2015 and 2016. The 1320s have the lit inlet tubes so the passenger side is capped off. This tube didn’t result in much air cooling off the engine it was more to route the water from spraying everywhere. With a 1320 the car is pretty much purpose built I wouldn’t bother with a CAI unless the company is willing to guarantee some extra horsepower to offset the cost

Yes, you would need to downsize the tube to at least a 2" rigid tube then run it across the front of the engine. By then if not insulated you are now looking at hot air so it's not too worth it. With the hellcat intake and airbox you are already getting more air than is needed.

What’s the benefit of removing the caps to let more air in? I’m new to all this so I’m considering should I do this or not 🤔
@WorkPlayDrive4 жыл бұрын
On the driver side if you run it to the air box you get faster recovery from heat soak. On the passenger side no benefit other than making them look even to prevent people tell you one of your headlights is broken.

It’s funny you’re worried about the air coming in through the air intake on the headlight area but what about your grill? All that water is being sucked in through your radiator and thrown all over the front of your engine, if you don’t want it getting dirty from the rain don’t drive it in the rain.

Not worried about water coming in, it was the additional time it took to clean that area due to the opening. This was my solution to enjoy my car whenever I want and lower the effort to shine it up for shows.

Should have sent it to the intake

This is a whole lot of work for nothing. lol At this point just keep the cap on the headlight ffs. Maybe remove the lense at the track OR build something where the passenger side inlet can connect to the intake. This right here is a total waste of time.

I have toe cap off so it looks even, 1 cap on 1 cap off was bugging my ocd. The effort was simply to stop spraying my engine bay. Moving it to the intake is not worth the effort.

I still do not see the point of that tube, it is not providing any cooling benefit, it's not giving you any horsepower, all it's doing is making your engine bay dirty. I don't see any positive outcome to putting a tube like that in your engine bay all you are doing is routing the air so it goes down and does not even hit the engine. Even if it did hit the engine it is providing no cooling benefit whatsoever. That's what your antifreeze is for and your thermostat. If you're worried about keeping your engine cooler just get another thermostat. I can't believe how all these people on this website are agreeing that that is a cool modification. It's a waste of $20 and I just don't got why you put a tube on there if all it's going to do is put water and dirt somewhere where you don't want it. The driver side one I could see if you had a Hellcat airbox but the passenger side is absolutely pointless and I just don't get it. If you think it works or if it benefits more power to you but it's not doing anything I will tell you that. Even the Hellcat airbox provides a tiny bit of horsepower that you cannot even feel maybe about 10 crank horsepower which comes out to about 2 wheel horsepower. If you want to make your car faster save that money for a blower and get a tune but that's the only way I can justify getting more horsepower for your vehicle. I just don't get some of the crap that people come up with. I have a 2019 Scat Pack and there's no way in hell I would put that in my engine bay so water can get everywhere in my opinion and in a lot of mechanics opinion it is doing nothing except making your engine dirty so good luck with that

Agreed it does absolutely nothing to benefit performance, and as I stated in the beginning of the video its an option to keep the engine bay clean by converting the water spray into a controlled drip out the bottom maintenance pan and diverting a little extra airflow into the engine bay. This was not meant to be a performance modification, but a solution to an issue with opening up the inlet tube for whatever purpose the vehicle owner chooses to.

Really no need for the effort, the water at this point is minimal and over 4 years has not cause any issues, rust or lasting dirt. Look at the hellcat heat extractors wide open and the water from the hood drains down into them.

Shoot the charger had air operated headlight covers ,air grabber hoods were air operated in sure thers someone out there who can figure something out I've already told ya how to do it now get after it "!!!!!!!!!!!!!
